Post-Signing Day: 10 talented 2021 NM prospects still available

Traditional signing day has come and gone, and plenty of talented 2021 prospects in the state of New Mexico fulfilled their dreams of playing college football by signing with the school of their choice. However, there are plenty more prospects still on the board that want to play at the next level. Here are our top 2021 players in the Land of Enchantment that have neither committed nor signed with a school: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26164" first="Braxton" last="McDonald"], Artesia WR</strong>: Arguably the state’s top senior wide receiver has been conspicuously quiet on the recruiting front over the past five or six weeks. He garnered a PWO offer from New Mexico State in late December, but has said little since then. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26190" first="Sean" last="Hays"], Alamogordo RB</strong>: As far as we can tell, the top running back in southern New Mexico still has no college offers. He’s 6-foot-1, 218 pounds, runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds and benches 305 pounds. He rushed for 1,844 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2019. <strong>Jaret Griffin, Carlsbad WR/DB</strong>: As we wrote back in August, Griffin is the ultimate  ‘under the radar’ prospect in New Mexico. He’s 6-foot-3, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and has a 3.5 GPA. He’s drawn some interest from school, but nothing has been firmed up yet. <strong>Bryan Hernandez, Grants WR</strong>: Hernandez hasn’t bee afraid to hit the camp circuit and compete against players from Texas and other states. He recently competed in the All America Classic all-star game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando and made his presence felt by catching a 24-yard touchdown pass. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26185" first="Jeff" last="Davison"], Cleveland QB</strong>: How does one of the winningest quarterbacks in the state of New Mexico fly under the radar? Three of his four offers are from the JUCO ranks, including NMI and two from Arizona. A big spring could change things, though. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26178" first="Tyler" last="Jensen"], Cleveland RB</strong>: We recently profiled Jensen and his battle to overcome lymph nide cancer and a broken fibula. Unquestionably, a lack of game action in 2018-19 has limited his recruiting interest. University of Puget Sound has offered. Another player who could benefit from a big spring. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26220" first="Ryan" last="Cook"], La Cueva QB</strong>: La Cueva’s presumptive starting QB has offers from Trine, WPI, Rose-Hulman Tech, Monmouth College and College of Wooster. But <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26220" first="Ryan" last="Cook"], La Cueva QB</strong>: La Cueva’s presumptive starting QB holds five offers from Trine, WPI, Rose-Hulman Tech, Monmouth College and College of Wooster. But he has yet to commit. This spring marks his one opportunity to shine as a high school QB. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26188" first="Matthew" last="Maestas"], Santa Fe LB</strong>: One of the top players in northern New Mexico, Maestas has helped spark the revival of the Santa Fe football program, as we recently profiled. Maestas was a tackling machine in 2019 with 153 stops, second most in the entire state.  He’s going into his fourth season as a starter. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="26222" first="Nick" last="Petty"], Eldorado QB</strong>: Petty is one of the top quarterbacks in the Albuquerque Metro Area and has offers from Bethany, Greenville (IL) University, St. Mary’s University and Concordia. But he’s uncommitted. <strong>Donovan Lopez</strong>, <strong>Mesilla Valley Christian OL</strong>: Anybody need a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman? Plenty of programs. Lopez is still available.
