We now have a better understanding of which teams are genuinely talented, which teams may have had a stroke of luck in the first few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each game in week 7 by conference for the 5A level. Up first this week is the Northwest Oregon Conference. Each game will include a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
Important Note: Putnam has forfeited their week 8 matchup against Canby after losing 8-47 to a winless Centennial squad last week. Canby has been awarded an extra win and has a record of 6-2. They will not play a game this week.
Forest Grove (3-4) @ #1 Wilsonville (6-1)
Prediction: Wilsonville def. Forest Grove 57-6.
As I mention every week, Wilsonville is a legitimate title contender and my top-ranked team in 5A. They are expected to easily win against Forest Grove this week. Although Forest Grove has a decent squad, they are no match for Wilsonville’s level. This game should be over early.

Southridge (1-6) @ #13 Hillsboro (5-2)
Prediction: Hillsboro def. Southridge 42-6.
It’s difficult to rank Hillsboro’s team because their schedule has been unusual. They have either played against teams that are significantly better or worse than they are, which is why they haven’t made it into the top ten despite an impressive record. This week, it is more of the same as they’re playing against Southridge, who isn’t up to their level. Hillsboro is expected to win easily, and we’ll have to wait another week to determine how good they really are.

Centennial (1-6) @ Hood River Valley (3-4)
Prediction: Hood River Valley def. Centennial 49-13.
Last week, Centennial celebrated their first win of the season, albeit against the weakest team in the 5A division. Nonetheless, they were happy to have secured the victory. However, their joy may be short-lived as they face a much tougher opponent this week in Hood River Valley. Hood River is determined to bounce back from their humiliating 6-40 loss against the top-ranked team, Wilsonville, last week, and will be eager to secure a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
