Continue ReadingScheduled to be one of the premier AAA games of the season, Jordan vs. Waseca did not disappoint. Although I had to leave early at half due to inclement weather, the first half boasted tons of talent and crazy plays on both sides of the ball for both teams. I’m pleased to present my game report from Jordan vs. Waseca!
DB: Seth Noyes 5’10” 140 lbs Jordan 2024
My pick for the Hubmen’s top DB, Noyes recorded a few key tackles early on. He provided tight coverage throughout the night and to my count didn’t allow a catch on him. He also was effective in the run game, when the opposing ball carrier would break to the second or third level, Noyes would chase him down. A solid under-the-radar prospect for MIAC schools.

DL: Logan Theis 6’4″ 300 lbs Jordan 2025
The first player I picked up on when I walked into the stadium was Theis. He’s a true 6’4″ and I don’t know if 300 lbs does him justice. Simply put, he is massive. His impact went far beyond the stat block, as he consistently made what I call, “Grown Man Plays”. If you want to find a dude who’s capable of disrupting the interior run game and is very difficult to move, look no further than Theis.

LB: Elijah Hagen Elijah Hagen 6'6" | 230 lbs | DL Jordan | 2024 State MN 6’6″ 225 lbs Jordan 2024
Easily the must-watch prospect of the night, I originally thought Hagen was off to a slow start as he only recorded a few tackles to start the game. Then I realized that every single run play up until that point had been run to the opposite side of him. Hagen did a great job of using his large and lanky frame and quick feet to displace slower offensive linemen and get in the backfield. He hits like a truck and has a very high ceiling.

DB: Deron Russell Deron Russell 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Waseca | 2026 State MN 5’11” 160 lbs Waseca 2026
The #1 DB in the class of 2026, made his presence felt tonight. He excels at both zone and man coverage, but where he stands out particularly is in his instincts. Russell seems to always break on the ball at the perfect time where he’ll fly in and make a great play on the ball. He uses his hands both offensively and defensively and is on track to becoming one of the premier defensive backs in the state.

LB: Noah Thompson Noah Thompson 5'10" | 210 lbs | OL Duluth East | 2026 MN 6’2″ 200 lbs Waseca 2024
Easily the biggest defensive playmaker, Thompson was a stud all night long. He was in on the tackle nearly every play and provided an intimidating wall across the middle of the field that was tough to run at. He wrapped up low and made sure to finish every tackle he was in on. He stayed true to his zone when he had to drop back, but made his money as an elite run-stopping linebacker.

LB: Nate Engel-Mueller 5’10” 185 lbs Waseca 2024
Tallying a couple of big tackles early on, Engel-Mueller also found his way into the backfield more than once on a blitz. He showed no fear when collisioning bigger offensive linemen, in fact, he appeared to take them on eagerly. He even took on linemen and made tackles at the same time. In an underrated Waseca defense, Engel-Mueller is another diamond.

LB: Andrew Robran 6’4″ 220 lbs Waseca 2024
Tallying a nasty 5-yard TFL and a key QB pressure, in the first half, Robran was a big-body edge player who ended up forcing a lot of runs back inside. Robran passed the eye test pretty early on, then he soon passed the real test of actually playing. Robrans efforts were key in slowing down what has been a potent Jordan rushing attack this season, and while he’s currently going unnoticed, college coaches would be wise to pay attention to his size and potential.

DL: Shane Engel-Mueller Shane Engel-Mueller 5'10" | 205 lbs | DL Waseca | 2024 State MN 5’10’ 205 lbs Waseca 2024
Our final defensive standout, this Engel-Mueller tallied a nasty QB hit early on, followed by a couple of tough tackles. Although he’s not the biggest defensive lineman, Engel-Mueller has a surprisingly quick first step and a filthy swim move which he utilized often throughout the night. He hand-fought as well as anyone on the field Friday and his play is worthy of a shout out.
