Where’s the beef?
South Carolina’s Class of 2022 rankings have got plenty of it. There are linemen who are bringing size to the table unlike any of their brethren around the state.
All of the following offensive linemen are 6-foot-5 or taller and tip the scales north of 300 pounds.
Chase Sweigart Chase Sweigart 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL Chapin | 2022 State SC , CHAPIN
The Eagles’ 6-foot-6, 300-pound tackle gets downfield with the best of them on straight runs and has a great internal clock to do it on a pass plays with the same type of efficiency. He’s playing against great competition, which will go a long way in his recruiting.
Jacob Ashley Jacob Ashley 6'5" | 305 lbs | OL Oceanside Collegiate Academy | 2022 State SC , OCEANSIDE COLLEGIATE
Ashley just seems to know when to let his hands do the talking and when to lean into defenders with every bit of his 6-foot-5 inches and 305 pounds. A right tackle by trade, he’s used to and up-and-down offensive scheme that’s meant to move quickly.
Justin Jackson Justin Jackson 6'6" | 340 lbs | OL Greenville | 2022 State SC , GREENVILLE
With a Greenville line mate ( Collin Sadler Collin Sadler 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Greenville | 2022 State SC ) already committed to Clemson, Jackson has naturally gotten some looks by association. But he’s also gotten plenty on his own, too. At 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, the reason is right out in the open.
Jayden Johnson Jayden Johnson 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Goose Creek | 2022 State SC , GOOSE CREEK
Johnson is still learning his spot on the interior of the line, but his 6-foot-5, 300-pound build allows him to learn on the job. Johnson’s best attribute is his ability to not give up on a play and keep his head on a swivel to block the next man.
Nick Williams Nick Williams 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Fox Creek Charter | 2022 State SC , FOX CREEK
At 6-foot–5 and 300 pounds, Williams is a prototypical small-school tackle on size alone. But he got some looks at guard during a junior showcase and looked the part there, too. He can pull better than tape shows, so his recruiting will be all about who sees him in person.
