Known for his explosiveness off the edge, Matthews leaves Sparkman with elite production — 76 solo tackles, 126 total tackles, and 31 sacks — and he’s coming to Gainesville with one goal in mind: make an immediate impact.

A natural disruptor, Matthews thrives as a pass rusher — with the burst, bend, and power that offensive linemen struggle to contain. His ability to shoot gaps, collapse the pocket, and finish plays in the backfield makes him a constant threat off the edge. Matthews is dominant against the run- he does a great job closing up rushing lanes and easily sheds off blockers to make plays on the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage. Matthews was unstoppable this season, he ended his junior campaign with 57 total tackles (38 solo, 29 for loss), 15 hurries, 17 sacks, and one forced fumble.
