On Monday, a pair of CBC High School teammates – standout wide receivers Chevalier Brenson and Zach Hahn Zach Hahn 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR CBC | 2021 State MO — both made verbal commitments to colleges within a few hours of each other.
Here’s a quick recap of a few recent college commitments…
Chevalier Brenson Chevalier Brenson 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR CBC | 2021 State MO , WR, 6-4, 200, CBC
Brenson made an early commitment to the University of Illinois, picking the Illini over Kansas State and others, but then backed off of that pledge after Illinois fired former head coach Lovie Smith.
On Monday, Brenson announced on social media that he will sign with Ball State, joining his CBC teammate Jordan Marshall Jordan Marshall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB CBC | 2021 State MO as well as Metro Catholic Conference rival Rico Barfield Rico Barfield 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB De Smet | 2021 State MO from De Smet.
Brenson, who also plays basketball for the Cadets, was recently ranked as the seventh-best prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2021. He is a mismatch as a bigger, physical, athletically-gifted wide receiver and should have his best football ahead of him at the next level once he focuses on one sport instead of splitting his time between two.
In six games this season, Brenson caught 32 passes for 545 yards and nine touchdowns. That followed a junior campaign in which he caught 44 passes for 676 yards and seven touchdowns.
Zach Hahn Zach Hahn 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR CBC | 2021 State MO , WR, 6-0, 175, CBC
Hahn, ranked as the 48th-best prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2021, turned down scholarship offers from Division II schools to walk on at the University of Missouri, he announced on Monday.
Hahn, like Brenson, has been one of the St. Louis area’s most productive wide receivers in the past two seasons as a key figure in CBC’s high-powered passing attack.
Last season, a junior, Hahn caught 48 passes for 738 yards and eight touchdowns — all team highs. This season, in six games, he had a team-best 34 receptions for 583 yards and nine touchdowns.
The University of Missouri made a push for several of the state’s top players to walk on with the Tigers and, with Hahn and ultra-productive Marquette running back Christopher Kreh Christopher Kreh 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Marquette | 2021 State MO , got two good ones who will have a chance to contribute in Columbia.
Carter Edwards Carter Edwards 6'0" | 225 lbs | LB De Smet | 2021 State MO , LB, 6-2, 220, De Smet
Another Metro Catholic Conference standout, Edwards was one of the driving forces on De Smet’s state championship team in 2019 but struggled with injuries as a senior and was limited to just three games in 2020.
Edwards put an end to his recruitment on January 20 when he pledged to Northwest Missouri, one of the nation’s top Division II programs.
Edwards was credited with 33 tackles and one sack in three games this season after a monster junior campaign that saw him rack up 126 total tackles, four sacks and two interceptions.
