2022 Defensive Backs Who Could Have A Big Year

These 2022 defensive backs could make a name for themselves throughout the state and start adding college coaches onto their radar if they produce and have a big year! [player_tooltip player_id="58764" first="Chandler" last="Schmidt"] Cabell Midland High School Chandler had great success in his junior year. As I said in a previous article Chandler bounced back from a season ending injury in his sophomore year and made a big splash in his junior year and started making a name for himself. He shows great coverage ability and isn't afraid to come downhill and make a tackle. He has good ball hawking skills and shows a natural knack for finding the ball and making a play on it. Look for Chandler to have a big senior season this upcoming fall.   [player_tooltip player_id="58783" first="Mason" last="Moran"] Cabell Midland High School Mason also had a great junior year and an underrated one as well. He shows fantastic coverage skills and is guarding the opposing teams best receiver on almost every play. He showed great ball skills and the ability to come up and tackle as well. He held receivers to low stat lines and showed that he's capable of being one of the best corners in the state for his senior year.   Malakai Woodward-Jones Winfield High School Malakai was dominant in his junior season. He showed great ball hawk skills and always was finding the ball through the air and making a play on it. He shows great coverage ability in man and in zone and also shows great pass break up skills. He's fluent in his break and often isn't caught out of place and often baits the quarterback into throwing a bad pass. Look for Malakai to have a great senior season.   [player_tooltip player_id="58770" first="Ryker" last="Brown"] Bluefield High School Ryker had a great junior year where he played many positions. At defensive back and linebacker he showed great play recognition skills and showed that he can get downhill and consistently make tackles in the backfield and at the line of scrimmage. He reads plays well and fights off blocks consistently and makes plays. Look for Ryker to have a big year on both sides of the ball for Bluefield and be a dominant player for them on both sides.
