Tulsa Schools area is full of talented high school football players who are making their presence felt and helping their teams compete every Friday night. From established playmakers stepping into leadership roles to emerging prospects turning heads with their performances, these athletes are finding ways to make a difference on either side or on both sides of the football. In this feature, we take a closer look at some of the players who have caught our attention through film, live evaluations, and their impact on the field. In this 3 part series, we will keep highlighting the athletes who are stepping up for their teams and making their mark on high school football across the Tulsa area.

RELATED

Part One

Part Two

AJ Baul | KIPP | Athlete | 2028

Another KIPP athlete that we will discuss is AJ Baul in the class of 2028. He has the ability to line up at multiple positions an makes an impact on the field is what makes him intriguing. He has contributed at quarterback and wide receiver on offense while also seeing time at cornerback on the defensive side. At quarterback, I like how he keeps his eyes downfield and works through his progressions to find an open receiver. He shows good pocket awareness, maneuvering in the pocket while looking to make a play through the air. When the pocket begins to collapse, he is capable of taking off and using his athleticism to pick up yards with his legs. When he lines up at wide receiver, he shows good hands and understands how to operate in space, giving the offense another option to create plays. His experience at multiple positions speaks to his overall athletic ability and willingness to contribute wherever his team needs him. Having the ability to impact the game as a passer, receiver, and defensive back makes him a versatile athlete for KIPP and a player worth continuing to evaluate as he develops.

[player_tooltip player_id='1695578' first='Sherard' last='Boyd'] | Hale | RB | 2028

The Hale Rangers have another talented running back to keep an eye on in [player_tooltip player_id='1695578' first='Sherard' last='Boyd'], a member of the 2028 class who fits nicely into the team's offensive scheme. Alongside [player_tooltip player_id='1838956' first='Lonnie' last='Bowler'], Boyd gives Hale a strong 1-2 punch in the backfield. I like his footwork and how he fits into the Rangers' inside- and outside-zone concepts. Boyd does a good job identifying a crease and attacking it, showing the ability to turn a small opening into a significant gain. He runs with confidence and has a style that allows him to make the most of what the offensive line gives him. Boyd also brings value to the passing game with his ability to catch the football out of the backfield. That versatility gives Hale another way to get the ball into his hands and allow him to create in space. Whether he is carrying the ball between the tackles, getting to the edge, or contributing as a receiver, Boyd has the skill set to be a productive piece of the Rangers' offense. With his vision, footwork, and ability to make something happen with limited space, Boyd is a 2028 prospect worth watching as the season continues.

[player_tooltip player_id='1829405' first='Khalil' last='Stoker'] | Webster | Athlete | 2028

One of the first athletes we are going to highlight from Webster is 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1829405' first='Khalil' last='Stoker']. His name came up during a conversation with a coach, which gave me the opportunity to connect with Webster head football, coach Calvert. Coach had nothing but positive things to say about Stoker and the way he has taken control of the offense. After hearing that feedback, I went to the film to get a closer look at what he brings to the table. One thing that stood out was his frame, along with the versatility he showed playing different positions last season before stepping into his current role. On film, Stoker shows a strong arm and the ability to drive the football downfield. He moves well in the pocket, works to find throwing opportunities, and is not afraid to use his legs when a lane opens up. I like the fact that he can threaten a defense both through the air and as a runner, giving the Webster offense another dimension. I would like to see more film before making a complete evaluation, but Stoker has caught my attention as a young quarterback who is growing into his role and helping lead the offense. As a member of the 2028 class, he is a prospect I will continue to keep an eye on as the season progresses and into his senior year.

Jushaune Johnson | McLain | RB/WR | 2028

One player I have really enjoyed watching both on film and in person is Jushaune Johnson from McLain High School. Johnson has an impressive frame for a member of the 2028 class, standing at 6'2” and 180 pounds. He brings a physical presence to the field and shows the ability to run the football between the tackles while also moving well in space. What stands out to me is his running style and the way he attacks defenders. Johnson runs with a physical edge, and once he gets moving, he can be difficult to bring down, even when defenders have an opportunity to make a play in the open field. I love the way Johnson plays the game. He combines his size with a hard-nosed approach that allows him to fight through contact and keep moving forward. His ability to run between the tackles while showing mobility in space makes him an intriguing athlete to evaluate. After watching him on film and seeing him in person, Johnson is a player who has caught my attention in the 2028 class. I will be interested to see how he continues to develop and make an impact for McLain as the season progresses.

Jeran Williams | Edison | OL/DL | 2027

One defensive lineman I cannot leave out of this article is Jeran Williams from Edison. I have had the opportunity to see Williams compete on both sides of the line of scrimmage, where he contributes at offensive and defensive line. What stands out to me most is his ability to take control up front on defense. Williams shows a good get-off, generates knockback at the point of attack, and has the strength to disrupt an opposing offense before the play has a chance to develop. He plays with physicality and violence in his hands, understanding how to use them to shed blocks and work his way into the backfield. Williams also shows good technique when facing opposing offensive linemen, even when he draws double teams. He does not shy away from the challenge and works to maintain his position at the line of scrimmage. I also like his pass-rush technique and his ability to create pressure on opposing quarterbacks. His combination of power, hand usage, and understanding of the defensive line position makes him an important presence for the Eagles up front. Williams is a player who can make his presence felt in the trenches, and I look forward to continuing to watch his impact on both sides of the ball.

Prince Johnson | Webster | WR | 2028

Another Webster football standout I was excited to watch on film is Prince Johnson, an athlete who can make an impact from multiple positions on the field. Johnson is a versatile playmaker with the ability to turn an ordinary touch into an explosive gain. Whether he is catching the football or carrying it, he shows the kind of athleticism that can make him a threat to take it to the house at any moment. As a receiver, he does a good job high-pointing the football and shows impressive body control and balance when adjusting to throws. He understands how to attack the ball rather than allowing it to come into his body, giving himself a better opportunity to make the catch. Johnson also brings a physical element to his game as a runner. He runs hard, maintains his balance through contact, and can be difficult to bring down in open space. That combination of receiving ability, physical running, and versatility gives the Warriors a playmaker they can utilize in a variety of ways. What I like most about Johnson is his ability to consistently make things happen when the ball is in his hands. He is an athlete who can change the momentum of a game with one play, making him an important weapon for Webster and a player worth keeping an eye on as the season continues.
