Sack Masters: Indiana’s Productive Underclassmen Sack Leaders

With over half of the high school football season in Indiana in the books, we're taking a look at some of the statistical leaders in the state who are putting up fantasy-team like numbers, with an emphasis on underclassmen. Below is a quick breakdown of some of the top underclassmen sack leaders in the Hoosier State.

Note: All statistics are courtesy of MaxPreps through Week 6 and players must have a Twitter/X account to be eligible.

[player_tooltip player_id='2055583' first='Larry' last='Sherman'], a defensive end for Jeffersonville, leads all Indiana underclassmen on the season with nine sacks. Sherman has a quick first step, good get-off, and takes great angles to the quarterback. He plays with great bend, leverage, and play strength, can run the hoop and deliver heavy hits. He has already eclipsed his five-sack total season in 2025. I expect his recruiting to pick up considerably over the offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='2428471' first='Nolan' last='Reising'] from Evansville Mater Dei, a Class of 2028 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive end, is having a great sophomore season. He has 6.5 sacks on the year, and his film pops. Displaying a good first step, initial leverage, and good edge speed, Reising takes great angles to the quarterback. He is also stout against the run and maintains gap integrity, strong point of attack defender, wraps up in space and stays square to ballcarriers. Very disruptive defensive end.

Yan Jefte Tioua is a high-impact, 6-foot-0, 215-pound player for Noblesville. He is consisntetly around the ball, especially around the quarterback, where he has six sacks on the season through Week 6. Tioua has great edge speed and a quick first step, takes great angles to quarterbacks and wraps up. He can dip his shoulder and run the hoop. In week 5, he had 12 total tackles. He leads the HCC conference in sacks. A must-know name for college coaches this spring.

Another of one of the state's top pass rushers is Penn High School defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1894226' first='Cooper' last='Reihl'], who has six sacks on the season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive end had five sacks in one game in Week 6. Riehl displays a very high motor, with quick get-off, a strong counter move and very good instincts. Good block shedder who can turn the corner, flashes explosiveness, and takes great angles to the backfield. Love his pursuit, motor and range.
