Our initial 2030 rankings were released Monday, and we're breaking down all 62 ranked players. After going behind the scenes and looking at three big-picture things of note, let's break down our four ranked defensive linemen and a bonus watchlist inclusion.

*Not a subscriber? Beal missed some time earlier this season with a minor injury, and you could tell what he meant to the team. Since returning, he's upped his production while playing both on the edge and the inside. I'm interested to see how he develops, and his future ranking will be determined by how he develops both physically and as a complete player.

Norwood has elite upside, and on powerhouse Grimsley's roster, there's no need to rush him onto the varsity field. Given his athletic profile and some of the things we heard when he was in middle school, it wouldn't surprise me to see him move up from his 20th overall position.

Rice is having a great season at Maiden as both a run-stuffer and an occasionally dangerous pass-rusher. He's not the biggest guy, but has great leverage and can stand up offensive linemen, even when double-teamed. He's a hard-working lineman who can shoot gaps or take his rush into the chest of blockers and blow up plays at the point of attack. He's one of the most productive freshman defensive linemen in the state, and a guy we're eager to follow.

Though Dabo hasn't made a big varsity impact, he's ranked in our initial list because I've seen his size, speed, and strength on the practice field, and there's no way he could be left off. He's willing to do the dirty work, but that doesn't mean he hasn't logged some excellent games statistically.

There's plenty to come from Matt Morrow, Zane Rowland, and me on the 2030 rankings over the next week.
