Mississippi has several quarterbacks producing at a high level without receiving the recruiting attention their play deserves. He has a live arm, plays with confidence and does not need a perfect pocket to create a big play.

The McComb quarterback has thrown for 589 yards and eight touchdowns through two games. That includes a 311-yard, four-touchdown performance against Tylertown. Chancelor throws with anticipation, works different areas of the field and usually puts the football in a spot where his receivers can continue running after the catch.

Adding strength and becoming more dangerous as a runner would give him another element. However, Chancelor already shows accuracy, decision-making and a good feel for the position. At 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, he has the size to see over the line, remain strong against pressure and create problems when he decides to run.

After missing last season with an ACL injury, Chandler has returned to pass for 993 yards and nine touchdowns through four games. He can put plenty of velocity on throws outside the numbers and has enough arm strength to stretch a defense vertically.

Chandler is not easy to bring down in space, and his physical running style can help move the chains in short-yardage situations. Improving his touch and making his ball placement more consistent will be important, but the size, arm strength and toughness make him a senior worth evaluating in person.

Banks continues to show that quarterback play is about more than measurements. He processes the field quickly, gets the ball out on time and rarely allows pressure to rush his decisions.

Through three games, Banks has completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 814 yards, 11 touchdowns and only one interception. He throws with good anticipation and does a nice job leading receivers into open space instead of making them stop for the football.

His height may cause some programs to wait, but Banks understands how to find passing lanes and move within the pocket. His accuracy, command and ability to protect the football make him a natural fit for a spread offense.

Bivins has started the season by showing a good combination of arm talent and decision-making. He has passed for 574 yards and five touchdowns without throwing an interception through two games.

The Laurel quarterback looks comfortable attacking the middle of the field and has enough touch to place the football over underneath defenders. He does not panic when the pocket begins closing and can slide away from pressure while keeping his eyes downfield.

Bivins is still gaining experience and cleaning up his footwork, but he has avoided many of the mistakes young quarterbacks usually make. His size, poise and ability to protect the football give him a strong foundation.

Feaster brings toughness and athletic ability to Pearl River Central's offense. He has a solid build, runs behind his pads and can turn a passing play into a positive gain when the defense loses contain.

Through two games, Feaster has passed for 314 yards and six touchdowns without an interception. He looks comfortable throwing on the move and has enough arm strength to make defenses defend the entire field.

Feaster is especially dangerous when he gets outside the pocket because defenders must decide whether to attack him or stay with their receivers. Becoming more consistent with his feet and ball placement from inside the pocket will help him take another step. His dual-threat ability already makes him difficult to prepare for.

These seven quarterbacks have different playing styles, but all of them have produced enough to deserve a closer evaluation. With more strong film this season, several could see their recruiting activity increase quickly

Each player brings something different to the position, whether it is arm talent, athletic ability, accuracy or command of an offense.
