James and Eaddy Lead South Florence to Win Over Ashley Ridge
In this article:
FLORENCE | Friday night's matchup between Ashley Ridge and South Florence was a game that both sides desperately needed to win to get their seasons going in the right direction. The Swamp Foxes hadn't begun 0-3 since 2020 and the Bruins hadn't done so since 2019.
With what felt like a must-win game on both sides, it was South Florence senior running back Cameron James Cameron James Spring Valley | 2027 SC that put the team on his back and made sure that didn't happen.
James (pictured above) finished the game with 26 carries for 215 yards with a touchdown. If not for being marked down at the one-yard line on two separate occasions, that would've turned into 217 yards and three touchdowns. The senior knew his team needed a big night, and he was glad to be the one to step up.
"We really needed this one," James said after the win. "The season hasn't started like it was supposed to and I knew that one of our leaders had to step up and get us right. I'm thankful I could be the one to do that and get us a dub."
