<p><strong>Per usual rankings are based on who projects highest at the collegiate level. You can be an outstanding HS athlete and not project to a high level of collegiate ball. <p>Here we talk on some of the state's top D lineman. [player_tooltip player_id='1339354' first='Jonah' last='Kapesi'] of Rainier Beach is a name we've heard often being an all-conference guy early in his career. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1615683' first='Anthony' last='Dunston JR'] earned all league accolades as a freshman and is one of the better bigs up front. He's just undersized for the position. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>6-3 290-pound lineman [player_tooltip player_id='2112996' first='Lincoln' last='Barnes'] is an outstanding overall athlete who makes the move from Central Kitsap to 4A title contender Puyallup after an all-league sophomore season. He can play on either side of the ball, but I like him on D. [player_tooltip player_id='986529' first='Malakai' last='Leuelu'] is already an established Vikings D lineman, finishing last year with 36 tackles, 5.5 TFL's, and 3 sacks. He could make a significant jump up the rankings board with another good season.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>6-3 320-pound [player_tooltip player_id='2112469' first='Mata' last='Ioane'] of Emerald Ridge is a kid we've heard a lot about over the offseason. He will get a chance to back up the hype in the coming weeks. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2123011' first='Jervis' last='Onesemo Fualau'] is one of the most disruptive players in the state coming off the edge. Look for him to be a 1st team all-conference guy this coming year. Speaking of all league athletes [player_tooltip player_id='985347' first='Alex' last='Prince'] of Kennedy Catholic returns after earning 2nd team NPSL honors last season as a sophomore. The 6-0 240 pounder has learned a lot playing opposite the likes of [player_tooltip player_id='2065191' first='JayLinn' last='Haywood'] and the state's #1 2026 recruit Derek Colman-Brusa.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>One of the fastest risers is 6-3 245 pound DE [player_tooltip player_id='2118597' first='Cody' last='Coovert'], who should be one of the best in the league for a Bellarmine Prep team who has a bunch of dudes returning. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Breaking down the LB's [player_tooltip player_id='1615869' first='Kael' last='Copeland'] of Kennedy Catholic is one of the state's top overall players for his class, he just doesn't have prototypical size. He was also a standout offensively averaging 11.94 yards per carry with 600+ yards and 9 Tds.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Two backers to watch with stocks rising quickly include [player_tooltip player_id='2129716' first='J'andre' last='Castillo'] of O'Dea and [player_tooltip player_id='985351' first='Carmelo' last='Madden'] of Bellevue. This could once again be a state title preview for both of their teams with Castillo making 25 tackles with 3 TFL's for last year's back-to-back state title winners. Madden had a monster sophomore campaign finishing with 63 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 INTs. The Wolverines are 3A title favorites heading into the year. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2166809' first='Savelle' last='Velazquez'] of Skyview was one of WA's breakout performers last season, leading the 4A GSHL in tackles with 79, while adding 6 sacks and 11 TFL's to that stat line. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Two other LB's rising quickly with legit size include [player_tooltip player_id='1339345' first='Ben' last='Baker'] (6-2 220) of Roosevelt and [player_tooltip player_id='1795369' first='Zarrick' last='Roberts'] (6-3 220) who made the transfer from Yelm to Lakes . Both will be heavily influential for their individual teams with each playing more of the hybrid OLB/Edge spot. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>In the secondary [player_tooltip player_id='2112459' first='Luke' last='Parbon'] of Camas makes a nice jump up the rankings board after earning 2nd team all GSHL honors as a sophomore, while accounting for 25 tackles with 2 INT's and 11 PBU's in 5 games. [player_tooltip player_id='2166821' first='Amare' last='Payton'] of Kamiak was another 2nd team all-conference Safety who did well. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>As noted, Bellevue has a litany of talented kids returning with [player_tooltip player_id='1691690' first='Nick' last='Simms'] having one of the most impressive offseasons of any 2028 athlete in Washington. The 5-9 corner tested off the charts. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2111464' first='Tyson' last='D Damus'] is another talented kid to watch. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>[player_tooltip player_id='2042054' first='Ari' last='Gibbons'] of Skyline racked up 2nd team all Kingco honors this past season and should be one of the more talented offensive guys in the league. [player_tooltip player_id='2112471' first='Charlie' last='Torrone'] of Curtis HS is another individual who most don't know about yet. He was an SPSL honorable mention all-league selection. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Last but definitely not least Moses Lake had [player_tooltip player_id='2266544' first='Case' last='Anderson'] earning 2nd team all conference honors at both WR & Kicker. He caught 32 balls for 429 yards and 6 TD's but will likely project as more of a DB. </p>
