Offensive Playmakers to Watch this Weekend in the Houston Area

The season is here! With scrimmages taking place this week and week one kicking off next, we have a few private schools starting their season this weekend. The teams taking the field are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and we will highlight the playmakers on offense to pay attention to and lock in on.

As a freshman, Norman proved to be a dynamic playmaker from the slot. He possesses quick feet off the snap which allows him to create separation with ease on his routes. Norman is shifty in space and puts pressure on defensive backs at the top of his routes. His ability to run every route with poise and pace makes him a tough matchup for any defense. Norman has top-tier ball tracking ability with strong hands to haul in any pass thrown his way. Norman finished his impressive freshman season with 806 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 66 catches, totaling 1,004 all-purpose yards. Game one on Friday night will be a challenge versus a strong St. Thomas defense but look for him to standout and be a key contributor for his offense.

Goff is a deep-threat with good size and athleticism. He uses his frame and strength well to shield defenders form the ball and make contested catches. At 6'2, 190, Goff excels on the outside and dominates when in the slot. He is an athlete who plays multiple positions including safety, and creates mismatches with his size offensively. Goff is a go-to player who is expected to take another leap this season, starting week one against a tough opponent who will be looking to shut him down Friday night.

Stewart is a bruising back with the explosiveness to outrun a defense. He has incredible burst through running lanes and welcomes the contact in the second and third levels. Stewart's physicality out of the backfield is glaring, taking defenders with him down the field and plowing through anybody in his path. The vision is there and the ability to reach another gear in the open field makes him a threat to score any time he touches the ball. Stewart is a threat in the passing game as well, making the most out of screens and routes out of the backfield. He is a crucial piece in the Eagles offense and will be a high usage player for his senior campaign, starting with a worthy opponent in The John Cooper Dragons. Get to know the name as he will be a player to watch this season.

Zarro is a key contributor on both sides of the ball for the Warriors. Offensively, he is a go-to target with has show the shiftiness and elusiveness to get open on routes and generate big plays after the catch. Zarro goes up and snatches the ball out of the air and is trusted by his quarterback. Defensively, Zarro patrols the secondary and is strong in run defense. He flies downhill and looks to make contact before any positive yards are gained. Zarro is a strong tackler in the open field and plays with great urgency both ways. This senior will look to start the season off hot with his teammates and ride the momentum to a great year.
