Broward National High School Football Showcase Takes Center Stage

The 5th Annual Broward County High School National Football Showcase returns, bringing together some of the nation's premier high school football programs for a week of elite competition and a showcase of the country's top emerging talent. The brainchild of Dr. Kevin Perry and Shawn Cerra, this nine-game, 18 team gathering of local, regional, statewide and national talent has officially grabbed the attention of the nation as teams from as far away as California, Utah, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Nevada have kept this star-studded football showcase in a spotlight like no other games have ever done. In just its first four years, the Showcase has established itself as a proving ground for the next generation of college football stars. More than 100 ESPN Top-300 recruits have competed in the event, including some of today's biggest names in college football such as Jeremiah Smith, Mark Fletcher Jr., and Malachi Toney. The talent on the Showcase stage is now making its way to the NFL as well, with Makai Lemon, a former Showcase participant, selected No. 20 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. This year's field continues that tradition, featuring nationally prominent programs and some of the most highly recruited student-athletes in the country. Two games will be nationally televised on ESPN2, and thanks to the amazing partners at Broward's BECON TV all the other games will be streamed live, giving these rising stars a national platform to compete against elite competition and showcase their talents to college coaches, recruiters, media, and fans across the country. “Two years ago, we had the No. 2, 3, 5 and 7 teams in the country,” said Dr. Perry. “This year we will have the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the nation, which is something no other high school event in history has ever had.” With Jacksonville Mandarin with the No. 1 2028 junior in the country, Bryson Wright, kicking this year's event off last week with a win over Hollywood McArthur, it opened the doors for the second week – starting this evening with two games. The ESPN2 Saturday games will steal the national attention – a week before the start of college football – with No. 1 Las Vegas Bishop Gorman taking on Miami Christopher Columbus in the first game. The second contest of the doubleheader at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale will shine a spotlight on the host school – the seven-time defending state champion Raiders, who will come into the game ranked No. 2 in the nation against Texas power DeSoto, who will be making a first trip to south Florida.
