2025 SEASON RECAP

Biggest Losses: QB Eli Franklin - OL/DL Braiden Cozort - WR Robey Brown

Summers County went through another difficult season in 2025, finishing 0-10 in Justin Pugh's second year at the helm. Pugh won three games in his first season and has continued working to rebuild the Bobcats with a younger roster. The results haven't shown up yet, but the program has been giving younger players valuable varsity experience along the way. Summers County is still in the process of rebuilding, with the long-term goal of getting back to the type of playoff-contending teams the program has produced in the past.

2026 OUTLOOK

Summers County should have a better chance to show progress in 2026 with a schedule built more around the size and makeup of its roster. The WVSSAC granted the Bobcats a waiver to play a more Class A-heavy schedule while remaining a Class AA school, allowing the Bobcats to play a more competitive slate of games comparable to their roster. After a difficult 2025 season, the Bobcats will have an opportunity to get back in the win column and show signs of the progress they've been working toward.

2027 Summers County RB/LB Braxton Lambert will be one of the players the Bobcats lean on heavily as they look to turn the program around. Lambert rushed for 600 yards and five touchdowns as a junior, giving Summers County a proven option to build its running game around again in 2026. He's also a standout at linebacker, playing with the toughness and competitive edge that makes him effective on both sides of the ball. Lambert's playmaking ability and experience make him one of the key returning players to lead this young Summers County roster.

2027 Summers County WR/ATH Rylan Tabor is in line for a much bigger role in the Bobcats' offense this season. Tabor finished second on the team in receiving as a junior with more than 300 yards and two touchdowns, but the expectation is for him to become the first option in the passing game as a senior. His reliable hands and ability to find space should make him a valuable safety net for a new quarterback. Tabor will be involved in all three phases and handle long snapping as well, making him one of the most important players on this roster and a key returning playmaker.

Summers County has an exciting young player ready to take on a bigger role this season with 2029 WR/DB Dyondre Wynes. Wynes will have expanded responsibilities and more opportunities as a sophomore and has the athletic ability to become one of the Bobcats' top playmakers as he gains more varsity experience. There should be flashes of his ability on both sides of the ball this season, giving Summers County a good young player to build around for the future. Wynes also has the potential to become a standout in multiple sports, and expect to see him develop into one of the program's top athletes in time.

A promising young lineman for Summers County to know is 2029 OL/DL Jackson Bennett. He's already in line to take on a significant role as a sophomore and is expected to be a key player up front. Bennett brings good size for his age and gives the Bobcats a young piece to develop in the trenches over the next three seasons. Being counted on as one of their top linemen this early speaks to the ability and potential the program sees in him, and Bennett should continue to grow as a player as he gains experience and physically matures. Bennett is a player to keep tabs on as he develops into a big part of the Bobcats' program.

Summers County has an exciting young athlete entering the program in 2030 ATH/LB Luke Stalnaker, that you need to know. The incoming freshman will compete for the starting quarterback job while also likely seeing plenty of snaps at linebacker and potentially running back, giving the Bobcats another player they can utilize on both sides of the ball. Stalnaker did a lot of good things at the middle school level and enters high school with plenty of promise and early confidence from the program. If he handles the transition well, this could be the beginning of a long varsity career where Stalnaker becomes one of the household names around Summers County for years to come.
