Triple Threat Ballers Ready To Bring More Fireworks

It has been a busy summer already as we put the 4th of July holiday behind us and roll into the final stage of preparation for the 2026 season.   For many players, focusing on playing one position is plenty, with some gifted enough to play both ways.   Then there are the multi-positional 3-way guys.   The ballers who can do a little bit of everything on offense, defense and special teams - the Swiss Army Knives of the high school game who can carve up the opposition on any play.   Sometimes it is hard to tell if someone is a true baller - some guys look like Tarzan in the off-season and end up playing like Jane in the fall - but for these guys, they look and play the part of being game breakers.   In this report, we dive into five gridiron virtuosos, leading with a crazy-versatile senior getting ready for a big final year and then four rising stars from the class of 2028 who didn't waste any time showcasing their game last fall as sophomores.   So, without further adieu, let's check out what's new with these guys:     [player_tooltip player_id='1515789' first='Ethan' last='Curry']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/ethan-curry/"></a> <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/ethan-curry/"></a> , 5'11, 185, RB/ATH, Lawrence, '27, it was a busy June for this triple threat, hitting seven camps and was awarded the Defensive Back MVP recently at the South Dakota State camp. Once track season ended he has been working out with @TopSpeedLLC multiple times a week and doing positional training on the weekends. With elite measurables (39" vertical, 4.5 40) and a proven playmaker on the field, he has been getting a lot of next-level attention, with nine offers to date. Last fall on defense he had 60+ tackles and an interception and played as both a lock-down CB who can hammer receivers at the line and then smother the route or dropped back as a ballhawk safety cutting off the deep zones. On offense as an all-purpose back he ran for 226 yards on 45 carries, caught 28 passes for 345 yards and on special teams returned 12 kicks and punts for 200+ yards. With last year's launching-pad performance and a strong off-season this guy is on the cusp of delivering big this fall. He has hit the camp circuit hard and in June started things off by being combine champ in four events at the Revive/Baker camp, then went to the Washburn camp in Topeka and recently returned after a good performance at Drake. He has been training hard in the weight room and has set PRs in all the key lifts and has next-level measureables with a blistering 4.25 in the 5x10x5; a 4.52 in the 40; and an explosive 36" vertical. He also has equally-fast cognitive skills and instincts, instantly reading plays from his LB position and stuffing gaps or blowing up backs trying to hit the corners. He can play anywhere at this level but will probably play as a hybrid strong safety in college with his size, speed and skills. Get the spotlight ready for this guy.     Chayden Bodney, 5'11, 195, ATH, Wichita Heights, '28, up next is a guy who I recently mentioned in an article on the top return specialists coming back. He is a multi-positional triple threat athlete who followed up on a breakout sophomore season by going into powerlifting and has been on the camp circuit since early this spring fine-tuning his game. Last year he was able to sneak up on some teams but won't have the benefit this year as teams will have him in their sights from the start. As a sophomore on offense lined up all over, split wide, in the slot, as a running back or taking the direct snap in the wildcat and carried the ball 38 times for 267 rushing yards, caught 29 passes for 500+ receiving yards and added 275 return yards to give him just under 1,100 all purpose yards and 14 total touchdowns. He is a lethal threat anytime he touches the ball, using his burst and acceleration to run to daylight running, receiving or returning. The scary thing is this guy is just getting warmed up and is ready for a big year.     [player_tooltip player_id='1656374' first='Bray' last='Witcher']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/abraylin-witcher/"></a> , 5'10, 165, WR/DB/RET, Maize South, '28, up next is another three-way baller who was also recognized in an earlier article on the top specialists and he just happened to be the overall leader coming back with just under 500 yards in returns.  With his speed, agility and athleticism, he makes things happen returning both kickoffs and punts. As a kickoff return man he sees the field well and makes decisive cuts before opening up the afterburners and accelerating to paydirt. As a punt return man he is fearless with sticky hands who uses his lateral quickness and open-field elusiveness to make big plays on special teams. On offense he is dangerous at multiple positions, coming out of the backfield or split wide, picking up 200+ APY and scored a TD. On defense he can play anywhere in the secondary as a smothering defender who was also in on 34 tackles. This guy is going to light it up at multiple positions this fall.     [player_tooltip player_id='1399836' first='Damauri' last='Peeples']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/damauri-peeples/"></a> - Topeka West, 5'8”, 175, '28, and last but certainly not least is a multi-talented playmaker who started getting attention last year and has followed up with an impressive off-season getting ready for this fall. This spring he played 7v7 with Top City and showed off some of the playmaker skills he demonstrated last fall as a lock-down defensive back, explosive wideout and as an all-conference return man. As a receiver uses his athleticism and burst off the ball to force separation early in the quick-pass timing game, which also sets him up to use his next-level acceleration to burn safeties on the long ball. On defense is versatile enough to play any of the secondary positions, but is particulary adept at cornerback where he can apply his fast-twitch, baller instincts to shut down the opposing team's top wideout.
