Top Defensive Tackle Brayden Parks Announces Decision

The state's top defensive lineman is off the board as 2027 Brother Rice defensive tackle Brayden Parks Brayden Parks 6'3" | 305 lbs | DL Brother Rice | 2027 State IL has announced his commitment to attend Notre Dame choosing the Irish over Oregon.

Parks is the #1 defensive tackle in the state and #4 overall prospect!  One of the most impressive tapes in the entire class as a massive defensive tackle that can move extremely well.  He just lives in the backfield being able to get upfield as a rusher along with making impactful plays stopping the run for tackles for loss.  Here was the last time we saw the dominant interior lineman on the field at the state championship where he helped Brother Rice capture another title in 7A.

Parks was an absolute monster in the 7A state championship game.  He racked up 6 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 3 passes batted down, and plenty of consistent pressure on the pocket vs both the run as well as the pass.  His combination of athleticism and power make him a special prospect.  The athleticism was shown as he was like a big man on the basketball court swatting passes down.  Blew up the interior of the offensive line all game long while stuffing the run.

It was easy to see why so many programs coveted his services.  Parks joins a Notre Dame class that now has three of the top eight players from the state of Illinois committed and all from blue blood high school programs in fellow defensive lineman David Folorunsho David Folorunsho 6'4" | 280 lbs | DL St. Patrick | 2027 State IL (St. Patrick) and linebacker Roman Igwebuike Roman Igwebuike 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Mt. Carmel | 2027 State IL (Mt. Carmel).  That gives the Irish to two best defensive lineman in the state along with the top linebacker.  Pretty good haul across state lines!
