Ottawa Hills Team 7v7 Tournament: Standout Performers Pt. 2

Team activities are beginning to ramp up as the summer inches closer to an end. I made it to the historic Houseman Field located in Grand Rapids, Michigan to watch Ottawa Hills, Godwin Heights, Kalamazoo Central and Holland battle it out in a 4 way 7v7 tournament. There were many highly competitive battles with some outstanding individual performances. Join me as we highlight a second group of top performers! Essa Kellah, @ CoachKNoDuke    Eli has been running this Holland offense for multiple years now. As you can tell by the connection he has built with his receivers. At times they looked like a well-oiled machine, with Wolters playing on schedule delivering passes where they needed to be on time. He has an unconventional release but is still able to fire the ball downfield with enough power and zip. One thing I think Eli also did really well was baiting defenders with his posture and eyes in the backfield. He also used pump fakes to get defenders to bite on the fools gold while he delivered a strike elsewhere.     Kamari is a receiver prospect who can open up the field because of his shiftiness and athleticism. He does a lot of his work in the slot, where he had success getting overtop of linebackers before breaking his route out to a corner. Witherspoon does a good job changing up his speed and pace mid route, lulling defenders to sleep before getting in and out of breaks. He had some really good catches on the day, including a head tap TD he snagged in the corner of the endzone over TWO defenders. Look for Kamari to have a valuable season this fall.     Forrest is another prospect who has had multiple years of success as the signal caller for his offense. As the day went on he looked more calm, cool and collected with every snap he took. Martellis has already showcased his ability to make different types of throws, but his 2 ball was really on display this tournament. He really excelled at throwing the seam ball, darting the ball to the hashes the moment an outside linebacker vacated the area in cover 3. From there, he had success rolling out of the pocket. Making multiple layered throws near the sideline for TDs and other big plays.     Claude is a prospect you would describe as a "Swiss army knife". A do it all athlete that you put somewhere when you need a play to be made. That would describe Ryans day perfectly. He lined up at receiver where he used his shiftiness to get free for a long TD down the sideline. Ryan lined up at DB where he had numerous PBUs deep downfield. He finished his day playing QB, making the correct throws and leading his offense on multiple scoring possessions. It's safe to say that Claude will always be of value regardless of where he plays!
