6 available 2027 CBs colleges should watch entering senior season

Dozens of Louisiana's top-ranked 2027 prospects have announced college commitments already, but the several legitimate Division-I prospects around the always-talented state remain available on the recruiting market entering senior year.   With August fast approaching, Prep Redzone Louisiana will look at a few of the most notable uncommitted prospects at each position that programs should take a closer look heading into the fall for potential steals in the final month of the cycle.   Here are a half-dozen cornerbacks to keep an eye on.   [player_tooltip player_id='1801186' first='Eldric' last='Cambrice Jr.'] — 5-10, 160 DB — Edna Karr   "Rico" is one of the more experienced leaders in this year's senior class in Algiers, which has big shoes to fill after the legendary 2026 graduations but has several talented and hungry playmakers eager to prove themselves, disprove doubters and carve their own legacy. Cambrice is quick and confident and does a nice job staying with opposing wide receivers and making well-timed plays on the ball. A half-dozen programs have extended offers at different points in his recruiting process, including some Power-Four members.   [player_tooltip player_id='2228470' first='Trae' last='Dade'] — 6-2, 175 DB — Neville   One of the intriguing prospect finds and rankings adds following spring travels, Dade had been one of the more underrated and under-the-radar defensive backs around the state despite having intriguing film from this past fall. Nicholls State, Northwestern State and Lamar have been among the programs to take notice this offseason, and one may soon end up with a steal. He will also have notable opportunities to test and showcase his game with high-profile matchups early and often.   [player_tooltip player_id='2228463' first='Jaden' last='Price'] — 6-2, 155 DB/WR — Marksville   Price has been a productive multisport star for his Tigers the past couple of years and emerged during the past year as a particularly intriguing prospect on the football field, including an offer at one point from Memphis. The question was whether he might ultimately project at wide receiver, where he caught 51 passes for 795 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior, or defensive back, where he had four interceptions and seven breakups. Now, the question is where he'll ultimately take his talent for the next level.   [player_tooltip player_id='592357' first='Sky' last='Ryan'] — 6-0, 175 DB — Lafayette Christian   One of the earliest prospects in Louisiana's 2027 class rankings, Ryan has had to show some patience and perseverance as he navigated injuries. But he was starting to look back to his old self early this summer, including flashing a 4.40-second 40-yard dash in college camp settings. Ryan is a smart, poised corner who makes well-timed plays on the ball. Nicholls State, Lamar and Dartmouth have extended his most recent offers, and the growing interest from the Ivy League has been clearly intriguing for the well-rounded student-athlete.   [player_tooltip player_id='2228474' first='Jakyrin' last='Sanchez'] — 6-1, 175 DB — Destrehan   Probably the most physical and hard-hitting athlete on this list, Sanchez is a rangy and versatile defensive backs who appeared poised during spring action to be among his Wildcats' top prospects this season and a potential tone-setter with his physicality on the perimeter. He does a nice job chopping his feet, changing directions and getting quickly downhill to wrap up plays. His length is an asset in coverage with the ability to blanket and frustrate opposing receivers, and he has the ball skills to snatch an occasional takeaway when tested.   [player_tooltip player_id='940554' first='Trenajh' last='Smith'] — 6-1, 170 DB — South Terrebonne   The longtime PRZLA favorite whose potential picked up offers this offseason from Nicholls State, Texas Southern and Millsaps, but continues to feel like one of the state's more underrated prospects on the recruiting trail. He is a long, fluid and fast cornerback who is smart, hard-working and not afraid to hit. Smith would perfectly the nearby Colonels' track record of landing steals in productive in-state standouts who go on to shine in Thibodaux, but they have competition — and more programs could join that mix as senior season ramps up.
