2027 Rankings: All-Under Recruited Defensive Squad

He had a breakout junior campaign with his pass rush ability getting to the QB along with being impactful as a run defender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2245923' first='Omari' last='Christian'] (Collinsville)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Christian showed a lot of pass rush potential on the camp circuit this spring.&nbsp; Quick twitched edge player that has a great first step and speed around the edge.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2244789' first='Bennett' last='Becker'] (Breese Central)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dual sport standout that is coming off a strong season for Breese Central on the football field.&nbsp; FCS programs should take a look here as the southern Illinois defensive end plays with a high-motor playing the pass and run well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Defensive Tackle</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2104961' first='Ronald' last='Moore'] (Kenwood)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Been a little quiet on the recruiting trail for the 6'2” 300 pound defensive tackle.&nbsp; Turn on the tape of the Kenwood three tech as a junior and there is no way that he is not a group of 5 prospect with his ability to make impactful plays as a pass rusher and run defender.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1335224' first='Caleb' last='Brown'] (East St. Louis)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>South Dakota State is getting an absolute steal in Brown.&nbsp; Knocked a little for only being 6'2”, but he is such an impactful interior pass rusher as he is consistently in the quarterbacks face along with recording TFLs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1575273' first='Hunter' last='Wahtola'] (DePaul Prep)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>North Dakota got the commitment from this 6'3” defensive lineman.&nbsp; Really feel that the DePaul Prep product has Group of 5 ability at the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Linebacker</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='498273' first='Phillip' last='White'] (East St. Louis)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The fact that Western Illinois was able to come in and land White is crazy!&nbsp; Slightly undersized, but with his explosiveness, instincts, and ability to cover there is no doubt in my mind he is a P4 prospect.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1335349' first='George' last='Holland'] (Lake Forest)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The athletic and physical gifts jump off the film for this 6'4” linebacker who can also play some on the edge.&nbsp; Very impactful with a ton of upside that should be getting more attention.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1131012' first='James' last='Bryant'] (East St. Louis)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bryant had a great junior campaign for the Flyers.&nbsp; Very instinctual prospect that slices through the defense making stops in the run game.&nbsp; Productive backer that consistently makes plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1334149' first='Drake' last='May'] (Macomb)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Want a dude that just makes plays?&nbsp; Turn on the tape of May.&nbsp; He isn't “that” [player_tooltip player_id='1334149' first='Drake' last='May']e, but this Macomb linebacker is one of the most productive linebackers in the state who should have small colleges all over him!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Defensive Back</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1335208' first='Isaac' last='Saldana'] (Mt. Carmel)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The South Dakota State commit is a 6'1” versatile defensive back that just makes plays.&nbsp; The term nose for the ball perfectly describes Saldana!&nbsp; We feel he should have been recruited at the Group of 5 level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1335196' first='James' last='McGrath'] (Wheaton St. Francis)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McGrath is a player similar to Saldana as he gets the most out of his ability.&nbsp; The 6'0” defensive back is a Prep Redzone favorite with his instincts on the back end always making impactful plays.&nbsp; Group of 5 programs missed out here as he committed to Western Illinois.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2245914' first='Anthony' last='Brown'] (Collinsville)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brown really popped this spring as a toolsy defensive back that has potential at both corner and safety.&nbsp; Would be wise for FCS programs to get involved here!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
