Camp settings show one specific part of linebacker responsibilities: coverage.

Without pads, ‘backers aren't able to show their ability to sort through traffic or lay big hits.

But athleticism is on full display trying to cover top-flight running backs and tight ends.

Some of the names below will make a big jump in our massive Prep Redzone July rankings update.

Here's a look at the linebackers who stood out at The Northwest Showcase:

[player_tooltip player_id='1165801' first='Benjamin' last='Greer'], South Salem (2027) — The 6-foot-1, 215-pound athlete broke the state record for single-season receptions last year (117), but lined up at linebacker for The Northwest Showcase.

Greer has a good, thick frame, but was fluid throughout his session in drills and looks like he could be a sleeper in Oregon for the class of 2027.

He was solid in one-on-one coverage and looks like he could play either weak-side ‘backer or wide receiver at the collegiate level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1720607' first='Colton' last='Potter'], Tualatin (2029) — Tualatin has a spectacular young nucleus coming up, and Potter is a big part of that.

The two-way standout played linebacker during the camp and looks like a future Three Rivers League star.

Potter had a solid day in coverage and, at one point, seemed discouraged after getting beat in a one-on-one drill.

But he was going against one of the best players in the entire camp, and is young.

It's really important to contextualize a player's performance.

He was outstanding for a 2029 getting his first taste of a mega-camp and should be a star at these events going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='1708643' first='Emmanuel' last='Wisbrock'], Lincoln (2027) — Lincoln has a ton of small-school college talent and Wisbrock is one of those players in the group.

He had a solid day, and has continued to play well since the camp, earning all-camp linebacker at Linfield.

He's a good athlete who really excels in a camp setting.

That was on full display at Western Oregon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612569' first='Lincoln' last='Lutu'], Beaverton (2028) — Lutu could be a 100-tackle guy this fall for Beaverton.

So, coverage is not his specialty.

Still he handled all but the fastest running backs well, showcasing his versatility.

That was also the case at the Prep Redzone Exposure camp.

He's had a good few months.

There's a chance he leads the entire state in tackles and is definitely a player to watch this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1708636' first='Jarrett' last='Skinner'], Oregon City (2027) — Oregon City has some solid talent coming back next season, including Skinner.

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound stout ‘backer had a stellar start to the season last fall and contributes all over the board - 4.5 sacks, two interceptions.

So, it was no surprise to see him hold his own in coverage.

I expect a big fall - with all-state potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='2131482' first='Owen' last='Healy'], Jesuit (2029) — The up-and-coming Jesuit playmaker is a running back/linebacker who put up some big numbers last fall.

He's a guy to watch going forward, and could emerge as soon as this fall as a future star for the Crusaders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1878396' first='Aidan' last='Galusha'], Dallas (2027) — A breakout spring and summer continued for the athletic Dallas ‘backer.

He more than held his own in coverage and continues to look like a hybrid OLB/SS who is one of the most under-recruited players in the state.

Galusha has picked up small-school offers, but it seems like the entire Big Sky is nearing an offer.

He's been to multiple camps and has been a star at every single stop.

[player_tooltip player_id='2054695' first='Liam' last='Carmichael'], Lake Oswego (2027) — Lake Oswego lost a ton of big-time talent from last year's team, but Carmichael returns as a second-team all-league selection who should make the leap to first-team this fall.

The 6-foot, 230-pound ‘backer is best with the pads on as a force chasing quarterbacks and ball-carriers.

But he's athletic enough to hold his own in coverage as well.

Expect a big senior season.

Leonardo Correani, Lincoln (2027) — The state's leading tackler showed he can hold his own in coverage as well.

Correani is a big-time playmaker and has an incredible football IQ - with the option to change the defensive play pre-snap based on what he's seeing on the field.

The 5-foot-11, 225-pound ‘backer has recently added offers from Linfield, Whitworth, Pacific, Lewis and Clark and others.

It will be fascinating to see if a Big Sky program decides to make the leap and extend him an offer.

He's an absolute monster on Friday nights.
