6 more offensive debuts in LA’s latest 2028 rankings to check out

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Redzone Louisiana released its latest 2028 class rankings Thursday, including a several notable new faces after breakout sophomore years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Continued articles have taken some closer looks at some of the top such debuts and big risers on the latest list.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's a look at another few prospects on offense to monitor who earned their first rankings, all in the top 110, and are tabbed as clear Division-I talents as such.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1605928' first='Gavin' last='Brooks'] — 6-3, 190 WR — Zachary</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2234655' first='Jaden' last='Moffitt'] — 5-11, 165 WR — Catholic-Baton Rouge</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pair of District 4-5A receivers joined the already-loaded and still-growing class at the position with debuts just outside the top 50. We've had only limited glimpses of Brooks and Moffitt, but definitely intriguing. Both are smooth-striding, fluid athletes, but very different from there. Brooks is already starting to look the part of a college-bound receiver with his tall frame and stronger build and lists respectable 40-yard speed in the 4.6-second range. Moffitt, meanwhile, is a smaller, quicker track-burner with 10.64-second 100-yard speed capable of blowing the top off the field and also making him a potentially dangerous weapon on special teams. Both should be players we're seeing sooner than later turning some notable potential into production for two of the state's perennial powers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1907608' first='Michael' last='Smith'] — 6-2, 255 OL — Archbishop Rummel</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Raiders' offensive line, including another top 2028 prospect, has been a position group we've enjoyed spotlighting on more than a couple occasions in recent years. Smith already checks boxes with his measurables and has a good combination of strength and mobility at his size and, while playing more right tackle his sophomore season, has shown some positional versatility across the line early in his career. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2234633' first='Hudson' last='Price'] — 6-2, 190 QB — Calvary Baptist</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shreveport has a both a historical track record and a strong recent run of producing quarterback talent, including an LSU-bound rising senior. And Calvary Baptist has another in the 2028 class who has shown some notable potential to watch the next couple years as he continues to develop. Price has good size, a strong arm and puts some really nice touch on his shots downfield to lead his receivers deep and give them a chance to run under the ball in stride. He's continuing to develop some of his feel and confidence on some tougher decisions of when to sling, throw away or tuck and run, but he possesses some clear Division-I tools with which to work. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2234891' first='Deontae' last='Fleming'] — 6-0, 165 WR — East St. John</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The younger brother of Dontae, the recent Tulane receiver now with the Minnesota Vikings, is starting to look like a future college standout in his own right. Deontae emerged this fall as one of the most productive pass-catchers in the class with 36 receptions for 786 yards and eight touchdowns with a résumé of highlights already showing his ability to effectively attack every level of the field. The younger Fleming shows a good burst to his release and out of his breaks, appears to reach a solid top speed down the field and is a talented jump ball-winner with his leap, body control and all-around ball skills helping him play bigger in the air than his measurables. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2234642' first='Christopher' last='Becknel Jr.'] — 5-11, 165 WR/ATH — Riverside Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Outstanding Player from this year's Division-IV Select title game is the most versatile player on this list with his all-around performance in Caesars Superdome — with highlights receiving, passing and running — epitomizing his season overall. Becknel is a smooth, instinctive athlete with great ball skills who sees the field well and, even as a small-school wide receiver, embraces physicality whether battling through tackles for extra yardage or helping block to spring his teammates for bigger gains. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
