The 2026 football season continues to draw closer

As we move towards the summer, teams across the state are starting to take shape for the upcoming season. With every team's outlook becoming a little more clear, we can now start to take some educated guesses about each team's probable 2026 MVP.

Region VI-3A has talent across the board, but don't be surprised if these seven players wind up leading their squads this fall.

ATLANTIC COLLEGIATE ARMADA

[player_tooltip player_id='1821585' first='Semaj' last='Wilson'] LB, 2027

A case can be made that Wilson will be Atlantic Collegiate's best player on both sides of the ball this season. As a junior, Wilson finished second on the team with 77 tackles and rushed for a team-high 12 touchdowns while averaging nearly 5.5 yards per rush on 104 carries. His versatility makes him even more dangerous, as he can also line up at safety or quarterback if needed. Wilson helped the Armada secure the first playoff win in program history last fall and should have an even bigger hand in its success this season.

AYNOR BLUE JACKETS

[player_tooltip player_id='1820108' first='Alex' last='Lewis'] QB, 2027

Lewis put up big numbers on the ground last season in Aynor's run-heavy offense, rushing for over 500 yards and seven touchdowns. Lewis' backfield mate Luke McCracken has graduated, meaning even more emphasis on the legs of the Blue Jacket quarterback. If Lewis and the offense can increase production in 2026, Aynor has a great chance to improve upon its three-win record from last season.

CRESTWOOD KNIGHTS

[player_tooltip player_id='1664643' first='Calvin' last='Wofford'] RB, 2027

The Region V-4A Player of the Year is back for his senior season after rushing for 1,375 yards, scoring 13 touchdowns, and accounting for over 1,500 all-purpose yards. Wofford won't be asked to be the lone workhorse this fall, as [player_tooltip player_id='437772' first='Brayden' last='Boults'] will join him in the backfield after bursting onto the scene as a freshman (and with another rising sophomore mixing into the backfield, as well). That rotation should help keep Wofford fresh and able to punish opposing defenses with his speed and athleticism.

DARLINGTON FALCONS

[player_tooltip player_id='1664618' first='Keontae' last='Scipio'] LB, 2027

Scipio was Darlington's most productive defender last season, tallying a team-high 73 tackles and notching 6.0 tackles for loss. His ability to track down ballcarriers from sideline to sideline means he's a threat no matter where the football is. Scipio's talent also allows fellow versatile linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1823879' first='Shamod' last='Jackson'] to shine, as evidenced by his 69 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, and four sacks last year. Scipio will be counted on to lead the Falcon defense again this fall and should put up big numbers once more.

HARTSVILLE RED FOXES

[player_tooltip player_id='1672833' first='Trace' last='Hillian'] RB, 2028

As a sophomore, Hillian was an all-region running back for the Red Foxes. He was a 1,000-yard rusher with 12 total touchdowns and his explosive speed makes him a home-run threat every time he touches the ball. The most frightening thought for defenses is that Hillian was not Hartsville's main ball carrier last season, as he split touches with Kylif Miller. This season, he should be the main cog in Hartsville's ground-focused offense, which could mean huge stats in his junior season.

LAKEWOOD GATORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1820888' first='Brian' last='Brooks'] ATH, 2027

Brooks' versatility and explosiveness is a truly terrifying combination. The Gators can line him up at wide receiver or cornerback and he will likely be the main target for [player_tooltip player_id='1825395' first='Justin' last='Wilder'] - the team's sophomore quarterback. Expect new head coach Jerran Deviln and his staff to find multiple ways to put the ball in Brooks' hands as the Gators look to climb back into region contention.

LORIS LIONS

[player_tooltip player_id='1881794' first='Ethan' last='Shaw'] LB, 2029

Shaw (pictured) is one of the best young linebackers in the state and will be counted on to help lead a defense bent on keeping Loris in the hunt for a state championship. Shaw posted an astonishing 108 tackles as a freshman and his athleticism should allow him to be close to that total again in 2026. The rising sophomore also possesses good hands and has shown flashes of power, as evidenced by his three interceptions, three sacks, and two fumble recoveries last year.
