Madison Prep vs. Acadiana helped continue to wind down Louisiana's spring football action this week with a matchup that piqued interest around the state.

And the scrimmage between perennial contenders from Baton Rouge and Lafayette, respectively, did not disappoint in its anticipated physicality and set of notable standouts likely to play at the next level.

Each team had its moments during early scripted-play segments, including some particularly explosive plays by the home-standing Wreckin' Rams both on the ground and through the air.

But the visiting Chargers managed to get the best of the low-scoring live quarters portion with a late touchdown and defensive stop to complete a shutout.

Here's a look at 10 of the eye-catching standouts from the matchup.

Jamyris Allen — 6-3, 295 OL/DL — Madison Prep (2027)

The Chargers have a strong recent track record of being one of Louisiana's biggest and most physical programs in the trenches, particularly among schools in Class 3A and below. And they appeared to answer any questions as to whether that would be the case again in 2026 after graduating a good senior group. Madison Prep more than held up up front with the rising senior among the leaders in the regard on both sides of the ball making yards between the tackles tough to come by for Acadiana and meanwhile helping pass-protect and spring a few bigger runs on offense.

Carderian Brown — DL — Acadiana (2028)

The Wreckin' Rams defense looked to be a smaller, quicker unit this year, but a rising junior defensive lineman was among the bigger and more disruptive playmakers up front. "Snacks" joins the lineup this year and may be a notable breakout candidate to watch as he gains experience and settles in. He showed Tuesday some flashes of his ability to get into opposing backfields and make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

Axel Cruz — 6-4, 240 TE — Acadiana (2027)

From a sheer eye-test standpoint, the new tight end was among the immediate eye-catchers on the Wreckin Rams' offense. Cruz moved in this year from Northside where he played more of a tackle role, and his strength and willingness as a blocker will suit him well on the end of the Acadiana line. But he also looked comfortable and confident catching the ball in warmups before the scrimmage.

[player_tooltip player_id='1851137' first='Cohen' last='DiBetta'] — 6-4, 215 QB — Acadiana (2028)

and [player_tooltip player_id='934589' first='Collin' last='DiBetta'] — 5-11, 175 WR/ATH — Acadiana (2027)

Another DiBetta-to-DiBetta connection appears to be on tap for the Wreckin' Rams' varsity season this fall. Collin, a promising wide receiver prospect and all-around athlete, began his career as among the go-to weapons for older brother Caden, now at McNeese State, before having to shoulder some more quarterback responsibilities this past fall. Now Cohen, the big lefty, appears ready to take the reins, and Collin was clearly a go-to (and versatile) weapon once again, including a long touchdown run bounced to the outside and another on a deep shot downfield on which Cohen hit him in stride ahead of a defender from whom he was able to run away to the end zone.

[player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] — 6-1, 175 DB/WR — Madison Prep (2027)

The Louisiana Tech commit, who has also added a recent TCU offer, wasn't hard to find. "Manu" was all over the field on defense — flying around in coverage, playing strong closer up toward the box and bringing a passionate, intense and vocal tone to the unit — and was a top weapon on the perimeter on offense with the ability to create separation, strong hands to seamlessly pluck even rifled throws out of the air and the strength and balance to battle through contact for additional yards at the end of plays.

Syrian Joseph — 6-1, 195 RB/ATH — Acadiana (2027)

The arrival of [player_tooltip player_id='1611386' first='Dashun' last='Lightfoot'] brought a lot of intrigue to the Acadiana backfield heading into the scrimmage and ultimately this fall, and the Franklin transfer will remain a breakout candidate to watch as he gets accustomed to the Wreckin' Rams' offense and style. But Joseph, in his first full offseason at running back after a couple position moves during his career, popped early and often Tuesday with his size, track speed and balanced running threat to power to tough yards or break away when he has a lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612657' first='Darius' last='Mack'] — 6-1, 225 EDGE/DL — Madison Prep (2027)

Another of the familiar returning faces on the Chargers' defense, Mack worked from the defensive end spot, helping keep Acadiana's running game well bottled in after a couple early explosive runs in scripted plays, getting some push at the line of scrimmage and even coming away with a diving interception of a pass deflected by one of his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782517' first='J'on' last='Profit'] — 5-10, 180 RB — Madison Prep (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1815384' first='Harlem' last='Turner'] — 5-8, 180 RB — Madison Prep (2027)

The Chargers return a proven, productive 1-2 punch at running back this year behind their big offensive line, and both Profit and Turner had strong showings in the scrimmages with the quick feet, power and balance to be effective between the tackles both dancing through traffic and driving for tough yards through contact and enough speed in the open field to each pop explosive runs.
