As we roll into the end of April the summer training months are upon us and for the ballers training to be elite this fall, it means one last block of time to be optimized before the '26 season hits.

The summers preceeding pre-season practice are always critical. It is the last opportunity to seal the deal for being as ready as possible to shine when it counts in the fall.

It is also the last chance for procrastinators to get in shape or for ballers who focus exclusively on the sport in season and put off football training until it starts getting hot.

In this weekend report we are taking a look at five multi-positional players from different classes who did not put off the grind and are cruising into the summer of '26 building momentum for this fall.

So, without further adieu, let's check out what these guys have been doing so far in 2026:

[player_tooltip player_id='935500' first='Timi' last='Moronfolu'] , 5'11, 175, DB, Eisenhower, '27, up first is a battle-tested d-back who is versatile enough to play any of the secondary spots but has been particularly effective as a shut down corner. Using next-level speed (4.5 40) and explosiveness (36" verticle) he can get in the receiver's grill, pound him in the chest plate and then turn, flip hips and glove the route. As a two-year starter already he has played smothering coverage, only giving up a solo score and less than 100 yards passing on his side in that time frame. In addition to coverage skills he is an aggressive open-field tackler who collapses down on the run quickly to shut plays off before they get started. He has been powerlifting, doing speedwork, working with Coach Tabor and PIA and the training is paying off, recently clocking in at 21.7 mph. This guy is ready for a big-time senior season.

Drake Berning, 6'4, 220, Edge, Eisenhower, '27, next up is another Tiger defender who has been flying under the radar somewhat but with a season of experience under his belt and a serious growth spurt he is going to be a baller to contend with this fall. With ideal size and athleticism he uses good bend and burst to slide by blockers or use his strength and explosiveness and bull rush right over the top of whoever is in his way. As a first-year starter last fall he quickly acclimated to the game and racked up 24 tackles, four tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. He has a busy summer ahead, with road trips planned to Washburn, Missouri S&T, and Pitt States camps and is considering others. He is also another baller in the know working with state-champ trainer Coach Tabor. This guy is ready to take his high-ceiling game to the next level this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1881309' first='Andrew' last='Pullen'], 5'9, 175, DB/LB, Spring Hill, '27, is the last baller from the class of '27 in this report and is a guy who I have had my eye on since early last year. He caught my attention as a hybrid linebacker/defensive back with great instincts who shoots gaps like a heat-seeking missile causing chaos in the backfield. With his read and react skills he makes plays sideline-to-sideline and when he arrives drops the hammer. Last fall he helped his team to an 8-2 record with 45 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks and a forced fumble and earned all-state honors. This off-season he has been a man on a mission, putting in a ton of work in the weight room, doing speedwork and fine-tuning his skills. He has also generated significant interest from numerous in-state teams. This guy is the real-deal and is going to have a breakout season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612255' first='Carter' last='Kamanda'], 5'10, 170, WR/DB, Shawnee Heights, '28, up first for the juniors-to-be is a multi-positional playmaker who caught my eye when he was a sophomore WR for the Thunderbird's high-octane offense last fall. He is also a talented defensive back with good closing speed and a heavy hitter making tackles in space, but where he has really shined so far is as a receiver. With quickness and athleticism he creates separation right off the ball before rolling into precision routes. He is fearless going over the middle and can be counted on to make the contested catch. In a season shortened by injury he showed signs of things to come with 6 receptions for 169 yards and two TD's, averaging 28+ yards per catch, had 7 tackles on defense and added 139 yards in returns. This versatile, three-sport athlete is definitely ready to bust out this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2165834' first='Armoni' last='Lopez'], 6'0, 175, QB, Wichita Heights (xfer from Wichita North), '28, and last but not least we have a young gunslinger who caught my eye as a QB playing for a team that unfortunately did not win a game last year. This off-season he transferred to Wichita Heights where he will team up with some good athletes on what looks like a promising offense for the Falcons. Last fall he spent a lot of his time running for his life but was able to throw for 700+ yards and piled up a half-dozen touchdowns running and throwing. With speed and athleticism he is adept at extending plays, throwing on the move and firing accurate darts. This off-season he has been playing 7v7, working with QB coach Rocky Hinds and is finalizing the camps he wants to hit this summer. Get this guy on your watchlist, he is going to bring the fireworks this fall.

In conclusion, get out and see these guys this fall, you will not be disappointed. Also, if you know of any players not getting any/not enough coverage that they deserve, please feel free to DM me via X so we can take care of that!

And, most importantly...

Keep Grindin'

As we roll into the end of April the summer training months are upon us and for the ballers training to be elite this fall, it means one last block of time to be optimized before the '26 season hits.
