Louisiana football standouts with all-state hoops honors | 4A

The LSWA's releases of its annual all-state basketball teams are winding down this week with Class 4A, Class 5A and Mr. and Mrs. Basketball recognitions.   Several names throughout the week and a half of announcements should look familiar to football fans, including so far the top-billed Outstanding Player winners in both Class 1A and Class 2A.   As always, Prep Redzone Louisiana will spotlight some of those multisport standouts for their work on the court, where many potential football prospects showcase their athleticism, competitiveness and other attributes once their fall season wraps up.   Only one first- or second-team all-state hoops standouts on Louisiana's Class 4A list boasts a particularly notable background on the football field, though several others earned honorable mentions, including Mississippi State football signee [player_tooltip player_id='740982' first='Chris' last='Addison'], Ole Miss football signee [player_tooltip player_id='1757515' first='Kervin' last='Johnson Jr.'] and highly touted 2028 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1372221' first='Cayden' last='Lancelin'].   Monte Farmer Jr. — 6-8, 180 QB/ATH — Washington-Marion (2026)   The lone familiar football standout on this year's Class 4A all-state hoops teams is one of the more interesting and rare prospects — particularly on the football side — to come through Louisiana in recent years. The long and athletic quarterback earned his second-straight all-state basketball honors with a double-double average that helped lead his Chargin' Indians back to the state tournament for the first time since 2017. Farmer was a versatile scorer from every level, run the offense, battle on the boards and protect the rim as a well-rounded, two-way star with 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals per contest.
