In my time covering Alabama, I've found it rare to have a whole lot of hidden gems lying around the state. With a lower population and a high number of big-time CFB programs, if the players are there, they are usually found. However, as of now, that doesn't seem to be fully the case. With spring contact periods coming up, I am on the hunt for some late bloomers, and these rising juniors have my attention.

Channell handles QB duties for Dora, but will project long-term at a different spot, likely TE. Sophomore tape is littered with his playmaking ability in the direct snap game. His sheer size and strength alone at 6'3 225 allows him to bulldoze and drag his way through contact, but he has better burst between the tackles and in the short areas than you would expect. He will have to add context to his catching ability in the camp and showcase scene over the next two years, but it's easy to dream on this kid as a playmaker in space if you flip him the ball in the flat.

There's very little buzz, if any at all, surrounding Cotton, but that should change with proper exposure. He hovers around 6'3/6'4 with room to add weight to his 260-pound frame. His stout, more compact build will project best to the IOL. Well-rounded player athletically who is quick out of his stance, moves well in space, and can leverage faster defenders in the second level. He works hard to stay engaged on defenders and frequently displaces them out of the action, working through the whistle. At the very least, he deserves some recognition for his play.

Horn plays all over the field for Locust Fork, including QB. He is a TD threat from any spot on the field, making me more bullish on his upside on that side of the ball. He isn't a shabby player from a true QB perspective. He keeps plays alive, senses pressure well, keeps his eyes downfield, and has a good enough arm. He is a difference maker with his legs, however. He is explosive, quickly finding his top gear to burst away from traffic and get out in space. He isn't a thumper, but he doesn't shy away from contact and will take it on if needed. Horn's experience and versatility only elevate his floor.

Choizi is a tall, long, lean DB with his best ball ahead of him. He is already big at 6'0 190, but his thin frame and raw athletic traits indicate he isn't done growing, and can hold plenty more weight. He will project best as a big nickel or a safety. Just an excellent pursuer of the football with the patience to settle down and set his feet as a striker. He has decent pop at the point of attack, uses his length to engulf ball carriers, and fights hard to wrestle ball carriers to the turf. I am very intrigued to see where this kid is at a year from now.

Johnson is a stout, muscled-up 6'0 210 who spends the majority of his time lined up on the edge. At his size, he will likely project best to a traditional LB spot, where he would be a C gap to C gap thumper. His hand play, block-shedding skills, and strength at the point of attack will translate just fine if he slides back, especially if he can flex down and line up on the LOS in certain packages. Not much to overthink here. Johnson is strong, can get off blocks, and can thump. Would imagine smaller schools are hoping D1 programs stay away here.

Davis is a traitsy two-way player who I think has a good chance to emerge as a D1 prospect here very soon. Long term, I think he projects best as a receiver. He is a true three-level playmaker as a receiver. He is explosive in the short areas, and his long strides help him cut through cushion and eat grass, both with and without the ball. He plays bigger than listed, thanks to his long arms. He uses his length to out-reach defenders and reel in the ball in a crowd. Just a well-rounded receiver with some pop on tape. Definitely someone I will circle back to.

Foster is a big body receiver with some flashy tape. He produced in spurts as a sophomore, but the bulk of his production and good play is still ahead of him. He is a pretty dynamic athlete at his size, as seen by how quickly he cuts through cushion and gets to his top gear. On the outside, he has plenty of reps showcasing both his ability and willingness as a blocker, which will be important as he continues to add weight. The traits are good enough here for D1 programs to at least have his name down. I don't see this kid going completely unnoticed with proper attention and exposure.
