Day 1 at the Garden State Gridiron 7v7 in Elizabeth, NJ is in the books, and there is a lot to talk about after what I saw on the field Saturday. Teams from all across the region came to compete and not a single game disappointed. 15u in particular was extremely competitive, with multiple ties occurring in one Pool of teams.

The teams that walked away from Saturday unscathed were 215 Playmakers, Buffalo Athletics, JTF, Syracuse Elite, 32 Sports, and Next Era Panthers. What separated these teams from the rest were their chemistry on the field and speed at which they played. Each QB for these squads was dialed in and in sync with their wide outs, clearly prepared. It showed they have put in hours together to perfect their craft. When you look at Points Allowed as well, these teams consistently shut down the opponents movement down the field. Buffalo Athletics and 215 Playmakers let up a mere 17 points in 3 games. If that doesn't fit the definition of a lock down secondary in coverage, I don't know what does.

In regard to the players that balled out, articles will be coming out soon to highlight the best from each position. I was thoroughly impressed by some of the big arm talents on display, such as [player_tooltip player_id='2174177' first='Tyler' last='Shea'], Mohammad Dar Issa, and Nathan Rodriquez. The pass catchers from Saturday's event were just as good, consistently helping to move the ball down the field and making big plays when it mattered most. The most notable of the bunch were [player_tooltip player_id='1521188' first='Josiah' last='Tuccille'], Colin O'Meara, and Quazire Hawkins, just to name a few.
