DORCHESTER | One week after the Carolinas Coaches Combine at Woodland HS, we are still in the process of sharing notes and observations from last Sunday's sessions that saw more 500 prospects from across the Lower State. Today we are looking at the quarterbacks and receivers who caught our eye, and could set themselves up for a big 2026 season coming up as spring practice kicks off in a few weeks.

QUARTERBACKS

[player_tooltip player_id='1709132' first='Akari' last='Williams'] from Carvers Bay has a nice velocity on throws, and has a clean release out of his hands. Myrtle Beach's [player_tooltip player_id='1672909' first='Camden' last='DeBruhl'] showed good pocket presence and a solid release when we walked over to watch the quarterbacks get loose. Irmo's [player_tooltip player_id='1856841' first='Britton' last='Davis'] connected with Berkeley's [player_tooltip player_id='1016577' first='Elijah' last='Mitchell'] on a nice throw in the quick game – we saw a ton of slants and hitches to get the quarterbacks and wide receivers acclimated. The same can be said for Darlington's [player_tooltip player_id='1818632' first='Alston' last='Singletary'] and Wando's [player_tooltip player_id='1824931' first='Gabriel' last='Holmes']. We liked the size on White Knoll's [player_tooltip player_id='1817586' first='Kentrell' last='Bonnette'] and the way the ball comes out in the quick game.

Strom Thurmond's [player_tooltip player_id='1818416' first='Zy' last='Rouse'] can fire the ball deep, as we watched a few of his throws while the quarterbacks were getting loose. Georgetown's Mike Johnson III has a good velocity on his throws and can get it to his guys accurately. Lugoff-Elgin's [player_tooltip player_id='1823858' first='Zach' last='Williams'] (pictured above) shined in the quick passing game, allowing his receivers a chance to make catches and make plays. Williams connected with Carvers Bay Jayshaun Ford who made an acrobatic catch towards the end of the session.

WIDE RECEIVERS

North Augusta's [player_tooltip player_id='1819541' first='Ky'Dre' last='Wright'] ran a great hitch route, turned and got up field quickly to get yards after the catch. Midland Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='1821370' first='Kaleb' last='Hester'] showed smooth hands to catch a quick route and get up field. Hilton Head [player_tooltip player_id='1820338' first='Kevin' last='Chisolm'] has good size on him and knows what to do after making the catch, there's no dancing in space with him. South Florence's [player_tooltip player_id='1627639' first='Mah'kai' last='Eaddy'] and Stratford's [player_tooltip player_id='1777112' first='Tyrese' last='Simmons'] showed good acceleration after making the catch. Summerville's [player_tooltip player_id='1061146' first='Teru' last='Davis'] and James Island's [player_tooltip player_id='874321' first='Raphael' last='Puiu'] caught our eye, looking the ball into their hands on a slant. Philip Simmons's [player_tooltip player_id='1816428' first='Maurico' last='Curry'] ran an impressive corner route and knew when to break off in his route to turn and find the ball. Georgetown's [player_tooltip player_id='1825017' first='Trent' last='Singleton'] made an unbelievable diving catch towards the end of the session.
