The annual MidAmerican 7v7 Back 2 Ballin High Tournament went down this past weekend at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Programs from at least a half dozen states competed in four divisions.

I spent the weekend at the event. Here's a look a look at players catching my attention for the first time or guys I've evaluated before raising their profiles with performances:

If I were choosing one breakout prospect from the Back 2 Ballin High 2026 during April in the UNI-Dome, it would be Stupp. I watched the Level Up 15U Select quarterback compete throughout the weekend. Each time he added to my belief that the future is bright. Stupp oozes potential from a projectable frame with current skills advanced beyond his years and room for much more growth. The Gilbert freshman is every bit the 6-foot-1 at which he lists himself. Long arms help him play taller than that. Stupp stands out for his ball placement on tosses to all levels. A strong feel for the right spin on a given throw also aids in making plays successful. When needed, Stupp can gun the rock through tight windows. He surveys the field well and doesn't get stuck on receivers, instead moving efficiently through his progressions. The Tigers threw for only 499 yards in reaching the Class 4A quarterfinals in 2025. Stupp's emergence in the fall could give them more balance and opportunity to advance farther in the postseason. After watching him in Cedar Falls, that's a bet I'd make.

I wrote about Davis four months ago, following a review of his 2025 season film. The Bettendorf freshman received limited varsity exposure with a veteran roster, but the tape showed a guy primed for a breakout as a 10th-grader on team replacing talent lost to graduation. Well, after watching him at the Back 2 Ballin High 2026 7v7 Tournament during mid-April at the UNI-Dome, I'd like to double down on my breakout prediction. Davis played 15U and 18U in the event, shining in both divisions thanks to a mix of size, speed and athleticism. He's all of the 6-foot-3 at which he's listed, with long arms and strides helping him beat defenders as a receiver and present tight windows for the opposition when lining up in the secondary. I should mention that although he's listed as a quarterback here, he's expected to play wideout and DB for the Bulldogs this fall. There's a ton of upside at both of those spots if he continues on his current trajectory. It's a projectable frame and a high football IQ. That's a winning combination.

Keeping tabs on prospects coming up through the Valley program is a wise practice. The school is among the state's best at producing talent for the next level. With the Tigers graduating their top two receivers from 2025, opportunity exists for players prepared to seize it. Sciorrotta appeared capable of being one of those guys with his performance at the Back 2 Ballin High 2026 7v7 Tournament during the middle of April in Cedar Falls. He regularly beat defenders with crisp routes, burst and speed. The sophomore changes directions well, which helps him lose the opposition. He adjusts routes based on the defense presented, showing he has a keen feel for the game. Sciorrotta's skill set would work in the secondary, too, at a school with a history of developing versatile athletes. Whether he ends up catching passes or defending them on the next level, Sciorrotta would be an asset on special teams. Pencil this kid in for a breakout campaign in the fall after he caught two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown for the Valley varsity last year.

After spending his first two seasons developing in a program with a long history of success, Hall will play his junior campaign at one of the up-and-comers. The sophomore defensive back moved to Waukee Northwest from Valley. While he did not record any varsity statistics in 2025, watching him compete at the Back 2 Ballin High 2026 7v7 Tournament during the middle of April at the UNI-Dome proved he'd been working on his game. I saw him compete throughout the weekend, and there seemed to be at least one highlight-reel play each time. Hall is a sticky cornerback, playing well in press coverage with the closing speed and back-pedal to play off-man defense, too. The tools in his box would do well in zone as well. Hall isn't the biggest guy on the outside, but he makes up for that with burst, instincts, fluid hips and insane leaping ability. I'm not sure what the Wolves' two-deep looks like in the secondary, but it's going to be difficult keeping Hall off the field in the fall. A breakout is loading.

While scouting the Back 2 Ballin High 2026 7v7 Tournament during the middle of April in Cedar Falls, I'm glad I realized early that Nebraska Select 7even 18U was fielding an Iowa team. I recognized a few last names and looked into it. It was an impressive group of athletes, many of whom we'll hear from in the fall. It included another of my breakout picks for 2026. Corrill was dropping dimes to a strong group of receivers throughout the weekend. He cycles through his receiver progressions quickly and gets the ball out fast. It features zip and accuracy on throws of all distances. One of the younger guys on the team, he commanded the offense, played confidently and worked well with his pass catchers. Lewis Central boasts a strong history of producing quarterbacks for the next level, and Corrill has the looks of a guy that can add to the legacy with another step forward in the fall.
