2027 Scouting Guide: New Alabama Prospects Impressing Us

Welcome back!   Today we're hitting our 2027 Scouting Guide and are watching some talented Alabama prospects who popped up on our radar this week.   This group really left us impressed. Make sure you take a look at their film, you won't want to miss out on this kind of talent heading into this fall!    Santez Pendleton is a talented LB from Wenonah who helped his defense in a ton of ways last fall.   "Pendleton is highly reactive and quick on his feet, consistently flying around the field to disrupt and create stops for little or no gain. He's really impressive against the run. It's easy for him to slip in the backfield and make tackles for loss; he overwhelms blockers with his speed and intensity, and is a terrific tackler who doesn't allow anyone to break free.   Pendleton is equally impressive on third down. He can drop back and stick with WRs in coverage and is also an efficient blitzer who can pressure and rush QBs into bad decisions. I think Wenonah's defense is going to really impress this fall, and Pendleton is a large reason why. We all need to have him on our radar."   Pendleton put together some really impressive tape from his junior season. Do yourself a favor and check it out below:      Marcus Scroggins is a talented safety from Pleasant Grove who really impressed last season.   "Scroggins is a versatile safety you can line up in the box and deep downfield. In the box, he thrives against the run- quickly filling in gaps and making impressive tackles to prevent any big carries from breaking off in the open field. He's so quick to get to the ball, making him an every-down threat that offenses always have to have on their radar.   Scroggins really sticks out in coverage. He's rangy, has great ball skills, and an impressive set of hands he uses to jar free and pick off passes all over the secondary. He does such a good job playing through the whistle as well- you can see he's a high effort defender on tape, making him a really exciting prospect in our 2027 class."   Scroggins was unstoppable this past year. I really think he has a big senior season ahead this fall. Take a look at his film below, and you'll see what I mean.      Maurice Smith is a disruptive DE from Florence who's made some impressive plays for his team's defense.   "Maurice is explosive and plays with a ton of speed, power, and leverage. He's physical at the point of attack, can fight through blockers to get to the ball, and is a really dependable run defender who is constantly catching RBs right at or behind the line of scrimmage for big stops.   I'm really impressed with Maurice's effort and motor. He goes 100% every snap, playing through the whistle to make some huge hustle plays in pursuit. When you combine all of that with how Smith consistently creates pressure as a pass rusher, you have a real talent on the defensive line."   I really look forward to Smith's senior season. He has some exciting tape from last fall and deserves more eyes. See for yourself below:      Bradon Cook is an impressive TE from Enterprise we think will have a huge breakout season ahead this fall.   "Cook is a natural pass catcher who thrives off his size, speed, hands, and physicality. He's quick to get open, has a reliable set of hands and great catch radius, and can play through coverage, contact, and defenders extremely well. I'm really impressed with his skills after the catch; he runs straight through tacklers like it's nothing, making the most out of every opportunity with the ball.   I'm just as impressed with Cook's blocking. He helps open up so much of Enterprises' run game, using his leverage, power, and hands to pave over defenders and provide tons of space for his teammates to capitalize on. When you see how well-rounded a TE Cook already is, there's a ton to be excited for in 2026. I think he's going to have a huge year."   I won't be surprised if Cook starts seeing some recruiting attention head his way. He's a talented TE with some really impressive film below, make sure you see for yourself!      Malachi McCullough is a talented ATH who's spent time and produced on both sides of the ball over at Valley.   "At WR, McCullough has impressive speed, hands, and burst with the ball that make him a versatile threat out wide. He gets downfield extremely quickly, consistently generates great separation from defenders, and has a reliable set of hands he uses to haul in passes in difficult spots on the field.   At DB, McCullough is a threat to opposing offenses every down. He's talented in coverage and provides great run defense down by the line of scrimmage, consistently helping his defense get off the field. I'm really impressed with his instincts and recognition on defense. He always seems to know where plays are headed and does a great job putting himself in a position to create stops."   McCullough is a talented two-way player with some really fun film you can watch below. There's a lot ot like with McCullough's game at both positions.
