Team Spotlight: 10U Sooner 7 – Prep Redzone Route 66 Classic

Sooner 7 has put together an outstanding run this season in the 10U division, posting an impressive 24-0 record in tournament play. Their performance has translated into championships, including two Prep Redzone tournament titles with one of those being the Sooner State Shootout just three weeks ago. This group plays with great chemistry, discipline, and a competitive edge, consistently finding ways to execute in high-pressure tournament environments. Their ability to stay focused and perform across multiple events has been a key factor in their success. One of their athletes, Jett McFarlin Jett McFarlin 5'3" | 85 lbs | ATH OK , has been playing these 7 on 7 tournaments since he was 5 years old. Another player, Jack Morris, is the son of new head football coach at Oklahoma State University- Eric Morris. Below, we will take a look at 6 players who earned spotlight athletes honors and others who caught our eye this past weekend.

Jace Mackey - 2033

Jace is a versatile athlete who contributed on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback for team Sooner 7. Offensively, he uses his hands well, runs good short routes, and shows good footwork with a nice change of direction-finding different ways of getting open for his quarterback. Defensively, he stood out at corner, making several impact plays for his team with his instincts and competitiveness. Having him at one corner and having Burris at the other is an advantage for Sooner 7.

Murry Turner Murry Turner 5'2" | 110 lbs | QB OK - 2033

Turner is a poised and efficient quarterback who shows consistent ball placement and accuracy for an athlete that is a 2033 kid. He is particularly effective in the sprint-out game, delivering catchable throws on the move. Displays patience by not rushing his progressions and does a good job taking what the defense gives him. Also shows the ability to push the ball downfield with a well-thrown deep ball that allows receivers to make plays. Murry was one of the better 10U quarterbacks on display in Springfield this past weekend.

Jett McFarlin Jett McFarlin 5'3" | 85 lbs | ATH OK - 2034

Jett is an aggressive pass catcher who attacks the football at its highest point rather than waiting on it, showing strong hands and confidence in contested situations. His quickness allows him to create separation, and he is particularly dangerous after the catch—shifty in space with the ability to generate significant yards after the reception. He is a good defender and had several pass break ups throughout the weekend and breaks on the ball well. His experience shows in his awareness, timing, and overall feel for the game.

Derrick Burris Derrick Burris OK - 2034

Burris is a confident and disciplined cornerback for Sooner 7 who stood out throughout the weekend. He does a great job staying over the top and not getting beat deep, showing strong awareness in coverage. Displays patience by not chasing in-breaking routes and understands how to play within zone concepts Sooner 7 wants him running. Overall, one of the top-performing corners in the 10U division in both days of competition.

Jack Morris - 2034

Morris is a playmaker who excels in short-yardage situations, with the ability to turn quick routes like speed outs into explosive gains. He shows reliable hands and creates separation with ease, consistently getting open and making plays. Also demonstrated versatility by taking snaps at quarterback and leading his team on multiple touchdown drives, highlighting his poise and overall football IQ. Shows good instincts and composure on both sides of the ball.

Liam Link Liam Link 5'6" | 125 lbs | WR OK - 2033

Liam was one of the bigger targets throughout the weekend and a reliable option for Murry in the passing game. He did a great job working the middle of the field and showed dependable hands. I liked Liam's frame for being a 2033 athlete playing in the 10U division. Defensively, he contributed at linebacker, where he effectively covered the middle and showed good awareness in pass coverage and understood what he needed to accomplish to help his team out.
