As we wrap up the short month of February with camps around the corner in the coming months, I had to ask the question: which 2027 South Dakota offensive linemen will strike first getting their first offer in this class? We tell you the why, the who of in our honest opinion fits the mold to get on the offer board early.

Rush possesses the bouldering strength at the tackle position that college coaches I feel are going to get a strong glimpse of this summer at prospect camps throughout the Dakotas. Rush is one that can combo-block into the second level and his quickness lies with his hand placement and the agility of getting his hands for the next combo up quickly. He's gotten more fluid with his footwork out in space as I feel he's still scratching the surface with that upside with his foot speed. He has tons of D1 interest right now which should turn into an offer shortly.

Trey is surely one that I am surprised hasn't gotten his first offer yet based on the conversations I had with college coaches last summer at camps watching him. He shows off great pad-level and balance with his hands in pass-protection as Trey makes it hard to get much movement or leverage once he's got his hands where he needs them. That balance shoots over too when you watch his run-blocking tape as Trey shows off an anchor that is hard to move off his spot. He has upside to show off more power getting into the second level, but surely is one that should have some offers coming soon.

Skyler is a climber in our 2027 rankings in this offensive line group out of Spearfish that seems to develop better and better the more I watch him each year. It's evident he has had a presence in the Spartans weight room, adding around 20 pounds from last update and you can see where it translates on tape. Skyler is one that even if his pad-level is slightly off has the power in hs hands and drive in his lower body to steal pulverize his blocker out of their stance. He is one that one of his growing skillsets pertains to him as an angle-blocker, as he's gotten not only more physical but shows off a smoother hand placement to drive them out of the position on a consistent basis as it shows. Spearfish surely should have another offensive linemen in their next class play on Saturdays, as Skyler should fit the bill for those D2 schools.

A newcomer to our 2027 South Dakota rankings is [player_tooltip player_id='1320995' first='Carter' last='Wilkinson'] of DeSmet. I cannot lie, that I believe this is the third or fourth Wilkinson I have scouted in our six years in the Dakotas from DeSmet as they show add another one to our rankings that has a ton of size. The 6'6 235 pounder has quick firing hands that can gain quick leverage into the second level and appear to show off some persistent finishing ability that does not take long to get blockers in vulnerable positions. Carter also has efficent pad-level that has an well-versed athletic stance based on the eye. With two Wilkinson's at SDSU (one for hoops, one of football) I'll be intrigued to see what they think of him in Brookings this summer at camp.

Dell Rapids St. Mary's by far has the most elite class of offensive linemen at the 9-man level in this 2027 class, as [player_tooltip player_id='1321000' first='Gavin' last='Pica'] is one of a few that pave the way upfront for the 2025 9B state champions. The interest thus far has been pretty evident that this young man will likely get some offers in the coming months as the 6'4 250 pounder shows off the agile movement you want as a pull-blocker downhill. Gavin also shows off an agile first step for his size and its no wonder that D1s and D2s have already showed off heavy interest already this winter for the Cardinals left guard. He also has upside that could progress into the defensive trenches, as Gavin seems to almost run over (but thru) blockers in the A-gap finding the ball carrier. Gavin is surely one that will catch a lot of eyes this summer at camps throughout the Dakotas.
