We focused more on 2032 Legacy Red QB Rhys Magness on day two of the Southern Brawl after catching glimpses of what he could do during pool play, and he impressed. He had Legacy's Red Squad deep into bracket play with athletes surrounding him, but Magness elevated their games with his arm talent and ability to spread the ball around. He was one of many young 12U passers who flashed a big arm and could drive the ball down the field consistently and effortlessly. Magness put the ball where it needed to be for his man to make a play early and often during the event and showcased some of the best arm talent among a loaded 12U group of quarterbacks.

We only got to see 2033 X3 Impact QB [player_tooltip player_id='2134495' first='Jackson' last='Nevels'] on day one of the Southern Brawl, and he quickly earned one of our first Top Performers graphics. He had sound footwork when dropping back that gave him a good base to work out of for his throws. Nevels consistently threw a nice spiral and flashed impressive arm strength for his age. That arm talent was on display on deep balls and on anticipation throws over the middle and to the sidelines as one of the top quarterbacks of the event.

We would've liked to have watched Blitz 7v7 QB Ethan Rhodes more during the event, but he caught our eye right away on day one. He's a lefty with a mechanically sound over-the-top release and delivery on his throws that will travel well throughout his career and development. That smooth motion allows him to throw with touch and layer balls over defenders for a catchable pass for his receivers.

JC Perez did some nice things for the Middle TN Elite Bombers this weekend in the 12U group and had them playing well on day one of the Southern Brawl. He has a sideways throwing motion and arm delivery that could limit his growth as a passer at the high school level, but those mechanics can be developed over time. Still, Perez made that unconventional arm slot work throughout the event and made some good throws to his talented cast of receivers around him consistently. He was able to progress through his reads well and spread the ball evenly to get everyone involved on offense for a young QB.

Georgia Buckeyes ATH Chase Norville was an MVP on day one of pool play of the Southern Brawl, but he couldn't have emerged without 2032 QB [player_tooltip player_id='2133975' first='Kamden' last='Staley'] getting the ball to him. Staley is a good athlete in his own right, who also made plays on defense throughout the weekend, which could give him versatility as a college prospect in the future at the high school level. He has quality length for his age that could also aid him as a potential ATH as he physically matures. Staley is still raw mechanically in some areas that would benefit him as a passer, but he had an overall solid performance during the two-day event.

One of my personal favorite young quarterbacks to watch this weekend was 2031 CapEx (SC) QB Levi Kirk. There's no ignoring his physical presence at the position in the 12U age group, which translated to impressive arm strength during the Southern Brawl. Kirkland throws a high-arching, rainbow trajectory on his deep balls, which is unique to see at this age level. That allowed his vertical shots to fall smoothly into his receivers' hands and in stride as he consistently pushed the ball down the field and attacked the entire back third of the field.

The Up Next "A" squad had a pair of talented quarterbacks in their arsenal, both of whom stood out on both days of the Southern Brawl. [player_tooltip player_id='1693200' first='RJ' last='Perkins'] earned Day One MVP honors on Saturday, but don't overlook the potential and upside of 2032 QB [player_tooltip player_id='2132857' first='Chandler' last='Millin'] either. He was consistently used and made the most of each opportunity. Millin would've been QB1 for a lot of the teams in attendance in the 12U group and has a bright future ahead of him. Like Perkins, he also flashed a big arm that pushed the ball down the field and on wide throws, but Millin also puts touch on the ball that makes his passes very catchable for his young receivers.

The Gwinnett Bombers elected to play up at the Southern Brawl in the 12U group as a 10U team, and they got some standout quarterback play from 2033 QB [player_tooltip player_id='2073087' first='Jayden' last='Hutchins']. They were expectedly and noticably smaller than many of their peers during the event, but Hutchins and the rest of his team showed out and made a run during bracket play on Sunday. He'll improve as he physically matures, but Hutchins showed fearlessness and courage, letting the ball rip and letting his teammates go make a play. He did a nice job of bouncing back after some poor reads/throws at times, especially in their multiple OT thriller over CSRA that showed maturity beyond his age.

With the last name Favre, you're destined to play quarterback, and 2032 QB [player_tooltip player_id='2131396' first='Xavier' last='Favre'] led the way for the CSRA Elite Yellow Jackets behind center. He's the son of Brett Favre's nephew, Dylan Favre, and is being molded well as the next in line in the family business of quarterbacks. The southpaw's touch stood out during the Southern Brawl, and his velocity will improve as he gets older and stronger. Favre got rolling on day two and hit a groove during bracket play before bowing out in a triple OT thriller. He did a nice job rolling out and maintaining accuracy, with his touch aiding him in layering passes over defenders when needed.

Apex White was considered their "B" team, but they had some talented players in their own right, beginning with QB Logan Brooks. Coached by his dad on offense, you could tell that Brooks is a coach's son and understands the game well for his age. That was the case on both sides of the ball as he was also a standout at safety who wasn't afraid to attack and break on passes as a defender. At quarterback, Brooks threw with touch and led his receivers well with a nice spiral on his passes that should project him well moving forward as he gets bigger.

The Money Team Athletics' "B" team also did its fair share of winning during the Southern Brawl behind the quarterback play of 2032 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1653409' first='Ethan' last='Waddy']. He split time with a teammate at the position and stood out during his reps behind center. Waddy is mechanically sound in his footwork, dropping back, keeping the ball high and tight, with his eyes continuously scanning the field. Those sound mechanics continued with his release with an overhead delivery, followed by an accurate pass and placement. Waddy progresses through his reads well and is patient in letting the play develop.
