Earlier this week we revealed our updated 2028 rankings. Here are 8 more of the Fastest Stock Risers:

[player_tooltip player_id='1613495' first='Colt' last='Ayon'], Raton: Ayon had one of the best seasons of any sophomore linebacker in the state. He earned 2A Second-Team All-State honors after making a team-high 123 tackles for the Tigers, who reached the 2A quarterfinals before a shootout loss to Hozho Academy.

[player_tooltip player_id='1826139' first='Cable' last='Carruth'], Bloomfield: An outstanding two-sport athlete, Carruth emerged this past season as a reliable deep threat receiver and defensive back for the 4A champion Bobcats. He averaged 28.3 yards per reception and made 40 tackles and 2 interceptions on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1827269' first='Dexter' last='Chapman'], Texico: At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Chapman has fantastic size, speed and skill, as he showed in December at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase in Grants. He earned Class 2A First-Team All-State honors, a rarity for a sophomore. Chapman is turning into a major prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1613727' first='Antonio' last='DeVargas'], Grants: Tremendous size at 6-foot-2, 260 pounds. Few sophomores in the state put up better numbers than DeVargas during this past season. He finished with a team-leading 77 tackles, 20.0 TFL, 4.0 sacks and 11 QB hurries. He's big, strong and quick. Earned Honorable Mention All-State honors.

[player_tooltip player_id='1826084' first='Kordell' last='Erby'], Del Norte: Erby was one of the bright spots for Del Norte, which moves to Class 4A for the 2026-27 cycle. Erby caught 42 passes for 573 yards and 2 TD for the Knights. Also made 17 tackle son defense. One of the bright young stars in the Albuquerque Metro Region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1827281' first='Rider' last='Gonzalez'], Loving: Gonzalez staked his claim to being one of the top young receivers in southern New Mexico after making 28 receptions for 729 yards and 10 TD. He averaged an impressive 26.0 yards per catch, a testament to his route-running, speed and ability to elude defenders before and after the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1826155' first='Kane' last='Huffmyer'], St. Pius: One of the top young linebacker sin the Albuquerque Metro Region. He made 105 tackles, 6.0 TFL and 12 QB hurries, and was named District 4A-2 Defensive Player of the Year. Good size (6-foot-1) and speed to penetrate into opposing backfields. Earned 4A First-Team All-Strate honors. St. Pius X has a boatload of talent returning on the offensive side in 2026, but the defense should be pretty good too with Huffmyer and others.

[player_tooltip player_id='1667558' first='Nate' last='Vazquez'], Goddard: The revival of Rockets football is well underway under Arturo Bolanos, and Vazquez was a major reason for their success in 2025. He threw for close to 1,500 yards and 15 TD while rushing for 275 yards. His dual threat skills should be even better in 2026. Watch out for Goddard. They appear to have closed the gap on 5A superpowers Artesia and Roswell. Vazquez should have another fantastic season in 2026.

DE/TE
State Champion 2A New Mexico
1st Team All District Defense End
2nd Team All District Tight End@Coach_Herrera3 @coach_hadac @CoachBDavis17 @coachmccraw @CoachVegaVSR @Coach_Shade @CoachGwalk96 @broden23496 @PrepRedzoneNM @Forswags @nmpreps @ENMUFootball pic.twitter.com/axLh7Wvfqg
— [player_tooltip player_id='1827269' first='Dexter' last='Chapman'] (@Dexter99Chapman) December 6, 2025

5'11
WT 150
Wr
Class of 2028
Del norte Hs
573 yds
42 rechttps://t.co/awNtCUhA1j pic.twitter.com/JcHuVzQgeV
— [player_tooltip player_id='1826084' first='Kordell' last='Erby'] (@KordellErby) November 13, 2025

Congrats to District II 4A Defensive Player of the year ⁦@kanehuffmyer⁩ ⁦@PrepRedzone⁩ ⁦@nmpreps⁩ pic.twitter.com/mRaXtASpiJ
— coachflakes (@thecoachflakes) November 4, 2025

Sophomore season Varsity QB stats
100-164 61%
1402 Passings Yds
16 TDs
6 INT
41 Carries, 206 YDs
4 Rushing TDs@CoachBolanos @Coach_Hendrix1 @CoachManzanares @PrepRedzoneNM @nmpreps @GoddardRocketFB https://t.co/5zGJQnZog4
— [player_tooltip player_id='1667558' first='Nate' last='Vazquez'] (@NateVazquez08) November 9, 2025
