Established stars.

Rising names to know.

The quarterbacks in the Prep RedZone Class of 2028 rankings hit every end of the spectrum. And as we inch ever-so-slowing toward the 2026 season here in South Carolina, the position has given national experts and closer-to-home fans reason to believe this position and this class aren't messing around.

BREAKING DOWN THE TOP FIVE

[player_tooltip player_id='1094520' first='Jace' last='Grass'] Daniel

There's a lot of talk about Grass's future after his dad was named as the next head coach at Samford (Ala.). But as long as he's at Daniel, the Lions have a quarterback with a big arm and the statistical numbers you'd expect from a guy with more than 10 Division I offers. There's not a throw he can't make, and he's only just scratching the surface. There's no reason he can't throw for 10,000 career yards as a high school player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1467825' first='Matt' last='Kucia'] Indian Land

We're not about to say that Kucia was the biggest reason for Indian Land's jump. But we're not going to not say that, either. After all, his passing yards (3,000), completion percentage (68.2), passing touchdowns (26) all were massive leaps from his freshman season, and he did all that while throwing a lot more and cutting down on his interceptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='379090' first='Ryan' last='Brochu'] York

Brochu is easily the highest ranked quarterback in this class despite the fact that he's just now about to earn his way onto the field for the first time at York. Sitting behind an established senior starter meant he had no choice but to be patient. But his time is here, and believe us when we tell you he's got every physical and mental attribute to warrant all his pre-starting college attention.

[player_tooltip player_id='1615056' first='Ford' last='Wallace'] Hartsville

His first full season as the Red Foxes' starter was anything but a cakewalk. At times, his completion percentage dipped below 50 and the overall look of the offense looked off. But when he's on, Wallace can break defenses who are too focused on the run. It's hard to ignore some of the point totals Hartsville put up, even in some of their losses.

[player_tooltip player_id='776240' first='Tre' last='Blakeney'] Marlboro County

For a relatively small lefty, Blakeney did some big-time damage in what was a highly watched 2025 season at Marlboro. He had 11 touchdowns passing and another 11 rushing, proving time and again that his tailback and reserve quarterback playing time from his freshman season was a legitimate springboard for him individually.

NOTABLE NEW ADDITIONS

[player_tooltip player_id='1692190' first='Keno' last='Nixon'] Colleton County

The Cougars are finalizing a coaching search, and all of the involved names have some established chops on the offensive side of the ball. What the next leader of this program will find is a tough quarterback who is as likely to try to dump truck a would-be tackler has is his to try to juke them. Nixon's passing numbers aren't there yet, but it's safe to say that has more to do with other personnel. Either way, he's got something brewing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1050653' first='Kiishawn' last='Farrow'] Greenville

With a bunch of new faces on the Raiders' roster and coaching staff, 2025 was a bit of a dry run absent of many expectations. That's officially changed, in part because Farrow's development at the position shifts others around. He's not the only Greenville player expected to take snaps moving forward. However, he's the presumptive favorite and should have his training wheels fully removed when he's on the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='1816457' first='Andrew' last='Frick'] Brookland-Cayce

The chaos at B-C can't possibly be undersold. But at the root of this team are guys like Frick who should make the Bearcats pretty darn good next fall. As a sophomore, he threw for 2,300 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for another 275 yards. His interception tally was a bit high for his liking, but cleaning that up will be a boon for the rest of his numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1816896' first='Jonah' last='Young'] Rock Hill

For a pretty skinny quarterback, Young's biggest attribute might just be how steady he is standing in the pocket under pressure and then knowing when to freelance the play. Considering he wasn't even the starter until a senior ahead of him on the depth chart got hurt, we're thinking a full offseason at the top will lead to a big growth span. If the physical tools continue to improve along with the mental ones, Young has a bright, bright future.

QUARTERBACKS PRIMED TO RISE

[player_tooltip player_id='1672909' first='Camden' last='DeBruhl'] Myrtle Beach

The Seahawk sophomore couldn't edge out the senior for more playing time, but he did get some throws in over the course of the year. Most notably, he threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns in a lopsided non-region loss to Irmo. DeBruhl is now the guy, and he's got the full weight of the passing attack at his finger tips at a time when the line in front of him has taken positive strides.

[player_tooltip player_id='1467847' first='Beau' last='Hite'] Emerald

Hite has been the starter at Emerald for two full seasons now, and while every one of his passing and rushing numbers improved in Year 2, another bump in his numbers will turn some heads. This is a quarterback who has already thrown and rushed for 3,500 career yards and accounted for 33 touchdowns. The fact that he's handling a lot of kicking and punting duties only adds to his value.

[player_tooltip player_id='1816441' first='Marek' last='Yates'] Crestwood

If you're looking at how much the Knights ran the ball in 2025, you might be thinking that Yates is little more than a game manager. Yes, he can do that while sharing the backfield with two stat-stuffing tailback. But as all of them have added another year of seasoning, we could see Yates pop off in 2026. Let's not act like he doesn't have a couple big-name targets who would like to touch the ball more, too.

[player_tooltip player_id='1856841' first='Britton' last='Davis'] Irmo

Davis (pictured) was essentially the equivalent of a relief pitcher for Irmo last fall, coming out of the bullpen from time to time to essentially close out lopsided games. But don't for a moment think he isn't the guy the Yellow Jackets have been grooming for a two-year run that could closely mimic those of his two immediate predecessors. He's big, got a strong left arm and has no issues running the ball. He's also surrounded by talent galore.
