Rising Arms: 2029 QBs to Watch After This Season

Florida has long been a hotbed of high school football talent. Annually, Florida produces some of the nation's top prospects. Florida athletes are known for their speed, agility, and raw athleticism. These prospects have made names for themselves and have caught the attention of coaches and scouts at the collegiate level. With the 2025 season getting closer, we're looking for players whose stock is rising in the state.   These players are all talented and have college-level abilities. Some of these players have a few offers, but all of them have the ability to play college football at some level.   There are some big-time, highly rated prospects and several sleeper prospects who should all be getting looks for the next level. This list is full of stud prospects. Derrell Monroe – Parker High (c/o 2029) Height/Weight: 5'7”, 150 lbs Season Stats: 127–203 for 1,710 yards and 12 TDs   Scouting Report: Monroe is a young quarterback with a quick release and natural accuracy in the short-to-intermediate game. He processes coverages well for his age and shows confidence firing in-breaking routes. His footwork is efficient, allowing him to stay balanced and on time from the pocket. As he continues to grow physically, his arm strength should take another step.   Analysis: Monroe has a strong technical foundation and shows early signs of being a timing-based distributor who can run an efficient offense. Improving his deep-ball drive and adding functional strength will elevate his ceiling, but his poise and polish already stand out for a 2029 prospect.   John Upchurch – Christ's Church Academy (c/o 2029) Height/Weight: 6'0”, 187 lbs Season Stats: 46–90 for 692 yards and 12 TDs; 9 carries for 86 yards and 3 TDs   Scouting Report: Upchurch is a dual-threat quarterback with a sturdy frame and the ability to stress defenses with his legs. He shows good pocket mobility and escapes pressure while keeping his eyes downfield. His touch on intermediate routes is impressive, and he's capable of creating off-script when plays break down.   Analysis: Upchurch's blend of size, mobility, and scoring efficiency gives him a high developmental ceiling. Continued growth in his progression reads and consistency from the pocket will make him a complete modern quarterback.   Chris Cherry – South Fork High (c/o 2029) Height/Weight: 5'9”, 150 lbs Season Stats: 72–153 for 854 yards and 7 TDs   Scouting Report: Cherry shows good rhythm throwing when he's able to operate on schedule, displaying a smooth stroke and a natural feel for timing routes. He stands poised in the pocket and doesn't shy away from pressure. His ability to place the ball where only his receiver can get it is encouraging for long-term development.   Analysis: As he matures physically and adds more velocity to his throws, Cherry's accuracy-first profile should translate well. Improving his consistency and tightening decision-making will help unlock his full potential.   Ralph Diaz – North Broward Prep (c/o 2029) Height/Weight: 5'10”, 155 lbs Season Stats: 115–211 for 1,496 yards and 10 TDs; 74 carries for 538 yards   Scouting Report: Diaz is a dynamic dual-threat quarterback who excels at extending plays and attacking defenses on the ground. His athleticism allows him to escape pressure and turn broken plays into explosive gains. Through the air, he shows flashes of touch and anticipatory throws, especially on quick-hitting concepts.   Analysis: Diaz's mobility gives him a high-impact play style, and with continued refinement as a passer, he could become a true three-level threat. Developing more consistent mechanics will help stabilize his accuracy and unlock a higher ceiling.   Joseph Macau – Trinity Prep (c/o 2029) Height/Weight: 6'3”, 185 lbs Season Stats: 73–144 for 1,014 yards and 10 TDs   Scouting Report: Macau brings excellent size and natural arm talent to the position. He shows the ability to drive the football outside the numbers and has the frame to continue adding strength. His mechanics are fluid for a young quarterback, and he delivers with confidence from a clean pocket.   Analysis: With his combination of stature and arm strength, Macau projects as a prototypical pocket passer with long-term upside. Continued work on pocket movement and reading full-field concepts will help him take the next steps in his development.
