Oregon Ducks turn focus to in-state prospects

The Oregon Ducks have the nation's No. 5 recruiting class, and the No. 1 group in the country in terms of “average rating per commit.”   And one of the staples of a Dan Lanning recruiting class is a relatively-small initial class and a heavy influx of transfer portal talent.    But Lanning has also consistently prioritized recruiting the state of Oregon via both scholarship and walk-on avenues.   With its class largely locked up, the Ducks have offered a number of key local athletes a walk-on position.   Here's a look at some of the players who have announced opportunities at Oregon:   [player_tooltip player_id='402395' first='Braxton' last='Singleton'], North Salem — Oregon offered [player_tooltip player_id='402395' first='Braxton' last='Singleton'] a preferred walk-on spot this weekend.   The 6-foot-3, 185-pound playmaker had a strong senior campaign - 986 all-purpose yards, 9 receiving touchdowns, 2 interceptions and a kick return touchdowns.   His size, athleticism and versatility make him an interesting potential add, as he still has plenty of room to develop.   [player_tooltip player_id='1569372' first='Aiden' last='Lewey'], Willamette — A 6-foot-3, 270-pound offensive lineman, [player_tooltip player_id='1569372' first='Aiden' last='Lewey'] was thrilled to get a PWO opportunity from the Ducks.   He didn't allow a sack this season and could develop into a Charlie Pickard-like depth piece in Eugene over time.    [player_tooltip player_id='769925' first='Oliver' last='Luebkert'], Beaverton — [player_tooltip player_id='769925' first='Oliver' last='Luebkert'] had one of the best wide receiver seasons in Oregon high school history this season for Beaverton.   He hauled in a state record 118 receptions for 1,801 yards and a state record 28 receiving touchdowns,   He has added some key offers, including Eastern Washington and Oregon State, but could elect to attend Oregon and try to work his way up the depth chart.    It would be unwise to bet against him.   [player_tooltip player_id='1660153' first='Abraham' last='Zhyryada'], Nelson — A first-team all-league selection for one of the state's best defenses, [player_tooltip player_id='1660153' first='Abraham' last='Zhyryada'] is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound defensive lineman.   Like most of the names on this list, he has really impressive size and athleticism with plenty of room to develop into a “steal” for whichever program brings him in.   A couple of 2027 prospects already have scholarship offers and have been recently invited to gamely visits.   [player_tooltip player_id='632957' first='Josiah' last='Molden'], West Linn (2027) — Molden is one of the most technically-sound defensive backs to come out of the West Coast in the past decade.   The 6-foot, 175-pound cornerback - and son of former Oregon Ducks star Alex Molden - was expected to visit Oregon for this past weekend's game against USC, but suffered a leg injury in the 6A state semifinals.   Molden will be a priority recruit for the Ducks in the class of 2027, and already boasts nearly scholarship offers.   That list is highlighted by Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, USC, Washington and others.   [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin'], Willamette (2027) — The all-state Willamette linebacker feels like the next big prospect to “pop” in Oregon.   A highly-productive 6-foot-3, 220-pound athlete, Chamberlin already holds offers from Boise State, Nevada, Sacramento State and Washington State.
