This group has grown into the core of Maplesville's identity... tough, disciplined, and capable of explosive plays in critical moments. Whether it's playmaking on offense, leadership at quarterback, or toughness on defense, the 2026 class has shown maturity beyond their age. These players have been consistent all season and now step into the spotlight with a chance to push Maplesville deeper into the postseason. Their versatility, competitiveness, and football IQ make them must-watch prospects. Here are the top 2026 players expected to impact this Round 3 matchup. Pearce Yeargan is a field-general type quarterback who operates the offense with poise and command. He shows excellent pre-snap awareness, often adjusting protections or checks to keep Maplesville in the right play. His accuracy on intermediate throws stands out, especially on timing routes and play-action concepts. Yeargan keeps plays alive with smart movement in the pocket rather than relying on risky decisions. His leadership presence is evident, as teammates follow his calm, confident approach. With his decision-making and steady hand, Yeargan will be crucial in sustaining long drives against Southern Choctaw. Aidan Abbott is a smooth route-runner who consistently creates separation at the top of his breaks. He has strong hands and makes tough catches look routine, especially in contested-catch situations. Abbott understands leverage well, using subtle body positioning to win against defensive backs. He can stretch the field vertically but is just as effective working the short and intermediate zones. His competitive nature shows up after the catch, where he fights for extra yards every time. In Round 3, Abbott's reliability and explosiveness make him one of Maplesville's top offensive threats. Eli Hubbert is the type of linebacker who reads plays quickly and reacts with aggression. He has a strong sense of run fits, filling gaps with physicality and making clean, downhill tackles. Hubbert moves well laterally, allowing him to scrape over the top and chase plays from sideline to sideline. His instincts in zone coverage continue to improve, and he breaks on underneath routes with growing confidence. He brings an attitude to the defense that energizes the players around him. Expect Hubbert to be heavily involved as Maplesville looks to slow down Southern Choctaw's ground game. Colby Mitchell is a versatile strong safety who brings physicality and range to the Maplesville secondary. He reads the quarterback well and closes quickly on underneath routes. Mitchell is an aggressive tackler, often stepping down into the box to support the run like an extra linebacker. His ability to cover tight ends and slot receivers gives the defense flexibility in its matchups. He shows strong communication skills, helping align the secondary before the snap. With his instincts and physical style, Mitchell could be a major impact player in slowing Southern Choctaw's offense. Trace Payne is a powerful offensive lineman who plays with toughness and consistency in the trenches. He fires off the ball with good leverage, helping create running lanes that make Maplesville's ground game go. Payne uses strong hands and a wide base to control defenders at the point of attack. In pass protection, he anchors well and keeps the pocket clean with disciplined footwork. His physicality and motor make him one of the most dependable linemen in the 2026 class. As the playoff intensity increases, Payne's presence up front is essential for offensive success. Jake Carlee is a downhill, punishing running back who sets the tone for Maplesville's offense. He runs with excellent pad level and fights for tough yards, rarely going down on first contact. Carlee shows great vision at the line of scrimmage, consistently finding cutback lanes and reading blocks with patience. His balance through contact is one of his biggest strengths, allowing him to extend plays when the defense thinks the whistle is coming. He also brings reliability as a pass protector, picking up blitzes with confidence. As the playoffs continue, Carlee's physical running style will be a major key to controlling the tempo.
