Week 5 Stat Leaders: Who Are the Top Tacklers Across Alabama?

It's Week 5, and we're taking a look at some of our Stat Leaders!   Today, we're watching some of the state's leading tacklers this season. These guys have been off to a hot start and deserve more eyes, so let's dive in!    [player_tooltip player_id='1906802' first='Kadence' last='Conn'] is a productive LB from Locust Fork who's been one of the top tacklers in the state this year.   "Conn is a dominant run defender. He flies downhill, fills in gaps, and takes down RBs by the line of scrimmage for little to no gain every carry. Conn's really impressive in pursuit. He can create sideline-to-sideline stops using his speed, and is an intelligent defender who's always in the right position to make plays."   Conn has been super productive this season, racking up 88 total tackles (44 solo, 11 for loss), 2 sacks, multiple hurries, and one forced fumble.   Do yourself a favor and check out some of Conn's tape below. He's a talented defender in the middle of an impressive junior season.      [player_tooltip player_id='1906800' first='Clarence' last='Dates'] is a dominant LB from Pinson Valley who's been unstoppable this season.   "Dates is a dominant ILB who can rush the passer, stop the run, and make plays out in coverage. I'm really impressed with Dates' blitzing. He's quick to get into the backfield and has excellent closing speed on the QB, leading to constant pressures/sacks.   Dates is just as effective against the run. His speed, pursuit, and tackling skills allow him to fly downhill and create stops by the line of scrimmage. He's a really well-rounded defender we all need to look out for moving forward."   Dates has been on fire this season, racking up 75 total tackles (32 solo, 8.5 for loss), 5 sacks, and a forced/recovered fumble.   I was really impressed with Dates' tape. Do yourself a favor and watch him below; he's a talented player with plenty to offer on the defensive side of the ball.      [player_tooltip player_id='1539017' first='Walt' last='Myrick'] has been a dominant piece of Wetumpka's defense the last few years, and this season has been no exception.   "Myrick is a talented player who can do a lot of different things really well on defense- he's great at generating pressure in the backfield, is terrific at stopping the run, and can even make some big plays out in coverage as well.   On top of that, Myrick is an instinctual player who's excellent at reading and reacting to opposing offenses. He's always in a good position to make an impact or help his teammates make plays, regardless of whether they're running or passing."   Myrick has been all over the field this season, recording 71 total tackles (44 solo, 8 for loss) and multiple pressures.   Make sure you check out some of Myrick's tape below, he's having a heck of a season:      [player_tooltip player_id='1881618' first='Caleb' last='Massey'] is a talented LB out of Billingsley who's been having a monster junior season this fall.   “Massey is a highly athletic LB who flies into the backfield nearly every down. He's quick to react, has impressive speed and pursuit skills, and is constantly finding his way into the backfield to create huge stops.   I'm really impressed with Massey's blitzing. He can quickly get past the line of scrimmage and generate pressure/sacks on the quarterback, creating huge splash plays when his defense needs them most.“   Massey has been unstoppable this season, recording 69 total tackles (44 solo, 12 for loss), and 4 sacks.
