Most of the summer's biggest recruiting headliners were already in the rearview by mid-August to enable college coaches and high school players alike to focus more heavily on the fast-approaching season.

But at least one Louisiana standout announced his commitment to an in-state program, and a few others — both in the 2026, 2027 and even 2028 classes — added particularly notable offers to their lists as their recruitments continue to gain some steam.

Here's a look at more than a dozen of the biggest developments we noticed during the final home stretch leading up to the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1581315' first='Lawson' last='Dixon'] — 5-11, 185 WR/ATH — University Lab (2026) —> Southeastern Louisiana

Nearby Southeastern Louisiana managed to add another commitment to their current recruiting class ahead of what looks poised to be a big senior season. The versatile Dixon is a top weapon for title-hopeful U-High, one of the top contenders in the state's Division-II Select field, as a quick, but strong wide receiver with great hands and also the build, physicality and mentality to work some out of the backfield or play safety on the other side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='924621' first='Brayden' last='Allen'] — 6-1, 175 WR — Lafayette Christian (2026)

The Power-Four options continue to mount for the Knights' talented wide receiver, who committed this summer to home-state Tulane. Oklahoma State became the latest program to join his offer list Aug. 18 to join Ole Miss, Colorado and Oklahoma among SEC and Big 12 staffs to make their move on Allen.

[player_tooltip player_id='401969' first='Jamarcea' last='Plater'] — 5-9, 180 RB/ATH — Captain Shreve (2026)

The Gators' record-setting running back is another interesting currently committed prospect to watch for a potential late recruiting push from other programs hoping to flip him prior to signing day this winter. Plater announced his pledge to Wake Forest this summer, but added a Colorado offer on Aug. 18 and has continued to hear from other programs, including nearby Ole Miss.

[player_tooltip player_id='723579' first='Easton' last='Royal'] — 5-11, 185 WR/ATH — Brother Martin (2027)

The speedy pass-catcher and all-around athlete is going to start running out of Power-Four offers left to receive as his momentum on the recruiting trail continues to keep up with the blazing 100-meter and 40-yard dash times he recorded this offseason. Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma and SMU have all offered during the past couple weeks, and Ohio State was the first program to host Royal for a game-day visit this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='739720' first='Jayden' last='Miles'] — 6-2, 205 RB — Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2027)

The latest offer for the highly ranked and heavily recruited running back prospect was among the biggest as reigning national champion Ohio State made its move Aug. 18. The Buckeyes join a long list that includes LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M and Miami among some other highlights.

[player_tooltip player_id='469439' first='Ahmad' last='Hudson'] — 6-7, 240 TE — Ruston (2027)

Oklahoma became the latest program to extend an offer to Hudson, one of the nation's top-ranked tight end prospects. LSU and Nebraska have appeared to loom large for the Bearcats' star, but more schools are continuing to ramp up their recruitment in both sports with the USC, Alabama, Auburn and Alabama A&M basketball programs and the Wisconsin and Oklahoma football programs all joining since mid-July.

[player_tooltip player_id='1801050' first='Jaden' last='Bayonne'] — 6-6, 275 DL — Alexandria (2027)

The Trojans' big offensive lineman is seeing his recruiting process begin to gain steam entering his junior season. Tulane extended Bayonne his third Division-I offer this weekend following Louisiana (Lafayette) in late July and UNLV earlier in August. He is also squarely on the radar of some Power-Four programs such as home-state LSU.

[player_tooltip player_id='934561' first='Rontrae' last='Carter'] — 5-11, 165 DB — Archbishop Shaw (2027)

The versatile safety for the reigning state champion Eagles, a captain on this year's team as a junior, had one of the busiest or most fruitful final weeks of August among Louisiana prospects in terms of new offers. Carter announced Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Tulsa and Syracuse in the final days of the month — plus Arkansas State to kick off September.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356159' first='Jayden' last='Anding'] — 6-0, 165 DB — Ruston (2027)

Hudson's fellow headliner of Ruston's 2027 class from a recruiting standpoint added a big late-August offer as well with Bill Belichick and North Carolina joining Anding's growing list of college options.

[player_tooltip player_id='463125' first='Savoy' last='Guidry'] — 6-1, 180 DB — Holy Cross (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1594309' first='Maison' last='Smith'] — 6-3, 275 DL/OL — University Lab (2027)

Liberty has started carving itself out some nice recruiting wins in Louisiana in recent years with Lafayette Christian safety Brylan Green and Vandebilt Catholic running back Jaylon Coleman in the 2022 and 2025 classes and a commitment already from Edna Karr quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='920629' first='John' last='Johnson'] in 2026. The Flames identified another pair of top-50 Louisiana prospects in the 2027 class to pursue with recent offers for Guidry, the physical Holy Cross corner, and Smith, the big two-way lineman for U-High.

[player_tooltip player_id='1372214' first='Chance' last='Archangel'] — 6-3, 225 EDGE/DL — Westgate (2028)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1804134' first='Jacolby' last='Campbell'] — 6-1, 170 WR — Abbeville (2028)

A couple of Louisiana's top sophomores, both from just south of Lafayette, reported new Power-Four offers in August. SMU became the latest program to offer Archangel, the big defensive end out of New Iberia, while Mississippi State and Arkansas became the first two SEC offers for Campbell, the dynamic pass-catcher from just west in Abbeville.
