Ground Game Kings: Tampa Bay Rushing Leaders Through Week 5

Florida has long been a hotbed of high school football talent. Annually, Florida produces some of the nation's top prospects. Florida athletes are known for their speed, agility, and raw athleticism. These prospects have made names for themselves and have caught the attention of coaches and scouts at the collegiate level. With the 2025 season getting closer, we're looking for players whose stock is rising in the state.   These players are all talented and have college-level abilities. Some of these players have a few offers, but all of them have the ability to play college football at some level.   There are some big-time, highly rated prospects and several sleeper prospects who should all be getting looks for the next level. This list is full of stud prospects. Je'Barri Brown (c/o 2026) Position: Running Back School: Fivay High Height/Weight: 6'0”, 200 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 99 carries for 1,014 yards and 12 touchdowns; 2 receptions for 65 yards and 1 touchdown   Evaluation: Brown has been one of the most productive backs in Florida through five weeks, already eclipsing 1,000 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns. His combination of size and power at 6'0”, 200 lbs allows him to wear down defenses, while his burst gives him big-play potential once he reaches the second level. He has shown he can carry a heavy workload without losing efficiency, averaging over 10 yards per carry. With his frame, physicality, and consistent production, Brown looks like a high-level 2026 prospect who can dominate both as a workhorse and home-run threat.   Steven Alexis (c/o 2027) Position: Running Back School: Gibbs High Height/Weight: 6'0”, 205 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 72 carries for 747 yards and 7 touchdowns; 2 receptions for 30 yards   Evaluation: Alexis has been a force on the ground, using his strong 6'0”, 205 lb frame to break tackles and churn out consistent yards. Averaging over 10 yards per carry, he has displayed both physicality and efficiency in Gibbs' offense. He runs with excellent balance and leg drive, making him difficult to bring down on first contact. With his power running style and ability to rack up explosive plays, Alexis is quickly emerging as one of the more complete 2027 backs in the region.   Roe Miller (c/o 2026) Position: Running Back School: Zephyrhills High Height/Weight: 5'7”, 165 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 65 carries for 623 yards and 8 touchdowns; 4 receptions for 45 yards   Evaluation: Miller brings quickness and shiftiness to Zephyrhills' offense, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry while finding the end zone consistently. At 5'7”, 165 lbs, he uses his low center of gravity to slip through tackles and accelerate into open space. His ability to contribute as both a runner and receiver gives him added value, showing versatility in the backfield. Miller may not have prototypical size, but his explosiveness and playmaking ability make him a dangerous 2026 prospect. He runs with power and determination, consistently finishing runs behind his pads at 5'8”, 195 lbs. While he thrives between the tackles, his compact frame, vision, and leg drive allow him to push piles and create yards after contact. Roberts' nose for the end zone and ability to handle red-zone opportunities make him a reliable 2026 back who maximizes his touches.   Hezekiah Davis (c/o 2027) Position: Running Back School: Jesuit High Height/Weight: 5'11”, 180 lbs Current Season Stats (through Week 5): 57 carries for 547 yards and 6 touchdowns; 4 receptions for 38 yards   Evaluation: Davis has been a steady contributor for Jesuit, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry while showcasing vision and burst. At 5'11”, 180 lbs, he combines a solid frame with enough speed to hit open lanes decisively. His ability to contribute in the passing game adds to his versatility, giving him value as a complete back. With his balance of power, speed, and efficiency, Davis has the skill set to develop into a high-upside 2027 running back prospect.
