Elite wide receiver <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1266408' first='Parker' last='Miller']</strong> caught a pair of TD passes in the second quarter – three in the first half – as Rio Rancho pushed the lead to 42-0 at halftime.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Running back <strong>Ethan Rolon</strong> added two rushing TD. Rio Rancho scored on its first possession of the second half and ended the lopsided contest with a short rushing TD by <strong>Ryder Sibley</strong> late in the third quarter. The Huskies ran 32 plays to Legacy's seven in a scoreless first half. Hope Christian, which drained nearly 10 minutes off the clock on its 16-play opening drive of the game, failed to finish a couple of drives into the red zone.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The first points of the game were finally scored late in the third quarter when Hope Christian RB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1248715' first='Noah' last='Carter']</strong> powered into the end zone from two yards out. After another Hope Christian drive into the red zone was stopped, Legacy Academy pulled out a trick play for their only TD of the game. WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1137096' first='Jay' last='Lee']</strong> took a pitch and fired a long pass to WR <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613448' first='Christian' last='Perez']</strong>, who was wide open behind the Huskies secondary. Perez raced into he end zone for the 64-yard TD play with 8:05 left in the 4^th quarter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Silverbacks, though, missed the PAT and the game stayed tied at 6-6. Hope Christian responded with the go-ahead touchdown drive with 5:24 left in the fourth quarter. Legacy couldn't answer and the Huskies drained the clock on its final possession. Hope Christian improved to 2-0 and will face rival Albuquerque Academy in Week 3. The Bulldogs dominated on the ground, totaling 278 yards on just 25 carries, with senior <strong>Albertos Landeros</strong> doing most of the damage. He frequently burst through the line and got to the second and third levels of the Valley defense before he was tackled.
