The 2025 high school football season is less than a month away — during which time Prep Redzone Louisiana is in the process of releasing rankings updates for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes and the first watch list for the incoming 2029 class.

A new 185-man list for the 2027 cycle hits the site this week. And, along with the update, we will count down the top 50 prospects in greater detail, including many familiar faces but also a few new additions.

Here's a look at Nos. 30-21.

No. 30 — [player_tooltip player_id='1356164' first='Jayden' last='Vessell'] — 6-2, 200 EDGE/DL — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The second Bears standout in the top-50 countdown (with another coming in this segment), Vessell is among the key returning playmakers on a defense that should again be among the state's best. He is a stout, strong athlete who is tenacious off the edge with active hands and a high motor. Tulane and Liberty have extended his first offers, with some Power-Four programs among others showing some early interest.

No. 29 — [player_tooltip player_id='469475' first='Jaylan' last='Ash'] — 6-0, 160 WR — Destrehan

Ash is the first in a string of prospects in this segment of the countdown who have been highly ranked since the very beginning of high school. And if his offseason work with his new school is any indication, a breakout junior season should be on deck. The transfer from Archbishop Rummel is a long, athletic receiver who consistently creates separation and reliably makes even leaping, twisting catches in tighter coverage on throws his direction. He's worked throughout high school to get stronger and this year joins a more passing-oriented offense loaded with talent.

No. 28 — [player_tooltip player_id='485983' first='Emmanuel' last='Moses'] — 5-11, 180 DB — University Lab

The third Moses brother to come through U-High has seen his recruitment start picking up notable steam this offseason with offers from Baylor, Mississippi State, Florida State, Ohio State and Vanderbilt to add to his list. "ManMan" is more of a nickel-safety, but packs some of the same intelligence and physicality that were among the strengths for linebackers Dylan and Keylan. The Cubs' secondary has the potential to be among the state's best this fall, and the versatile junior's effectiveness in coverage, in run support and as a blitzer is a big piece of the puzzle.

No. 27 — [player_tooltip player_id='592357' first='Sky' last='Ryan'] — 6-0, 175 DB — Lafayette Christian Academy

Another younger brother of a recent highly ranked prospect, Sky is a long, physical cornerback with a strong build who sets the tone at the line of scrimmage and plays with good patience and timing. His 40-yard dashes have been around 4.6 seconds thus far, but he plays faster and figures to trim those times by next summer.

No. 26 — [player_tooltip player_id='934564' first='Braylun' last='Huglon'] — 5-10, 175 DB/ATH — Calvary Baptist

The Cavaliers' three-phase star may need to have his position switched from "DB/ATH" to "WR/ATH" sooner or later as he continues to take on a bigger role in the offense each season. Huglon has been one of the state's top young defensive backs each of the past two years, including 52 tackles and three interceptions as a sophomore, but also caught 32 passes for 668 yards and 11 scores this past fall and is anticipated to be a primary target as a junior. The same speed, quickness and ball skills that helped him stand out at corner help make him an explosive weapon on the other side of the ball capable of consistently creating separation in his route-running.

No. 25 — [player_tooltip player_id='1610130' first='Devine' last='Duhon'] — 5-11, 180 ATH — Jeanerette

Duhon debuted earlier this year on the heels of his sophomore campaign of more than 1,400 yards and 25 touchdowns with elusiveness and breakaway speed. The Tigers' versatile weapon is one of the fastest in the class and a home-run threat any time he touches the ball whether as the team's leading rusher or as a more-than-capable pass-catcher.

No. 24 — [player_tooltip player_id='463125' first='Savoy' last='Guidry'] — 6-1, 180 DB — Holy Cross

The long, physical defensive back has been among the highest-ranked prospects in the class throughout his high school career and moves up another few spots in the latest update after an offseason of continuing to get stronger and faster than ever. Guidry is now pushing closer to 6-foot-1, listed about 20 pounds heavier than in earlier rounds of rankings and has posted 4.54-second 40-yard dash and 11.1-second 100-meter dash times and a 10.98-second split in the 4x100-meter relay — developments that only further bolster his already-promising game.

No. 23 — [player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] — 6-1, 175 DB/ATH — Madison Prep

Following the graduation of older brother Tylan, the team's three-year starting quarterback, Landon is now among the faces — as both a leader and a playmaker — of a Chargers program once again with its sights set on title contention. "Manu" has shown flashes of his ability on both sides of the ball, including at quarterback, but is particularly catching the attention of college coaches with his length, speed, instincts and ball skills as a defensive back.

No. 22 — [player_tooltip player_id='1610129' first='Juelz' last='Batiste'] — 6-3, 225 EDGE — Edna Karr

The Cougars' intriguing edge rusher continues to move up the rankings the more we see of him, including a couple highlights during the spring. Batiste has been an eye-catcher behind the scenes for a year now and picked up Troy, Nebraska, UCF and Auburn offers this spring, but this fall will mark his first big, extended opportunity to showcase his ability.

No. 21 — [player_tooltip player_id='1610241' first='Jude' last='Chamberlain'] — 6-5, 220 TE — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The Bears' tight end is emerging as a prospect to know in Louisiana's loaded class of pass-catchers. Chamberlain debuted in the top 50 this past winter and moves into the top 25 after a strong offseason that included his first offers from Tulane, Baylor and Vanderbilt. He's tall with long arms and good hands and enough speed and athleticism that he's worked some this offseason at wide receiver.
