USF Attracts Top-Flight Line Prospects
In this article:
TAMPA - While much of the attention during the summer at camps across the country is on many of the 7-on-7 events, one of the main attractions is actually the competition that goes on during the linemen events.
“Big Man” camps are held throughout the nation, giving prospects the attention needed to make an impression at positions that have become vital to the success of any college program across the nation.
On Thursday, the University of South Florida was busy once again with hundreds of high school football players filling the school with 7-on-7 events as well as offensive and defensive linemen.
These line prospects performed – in pads in helmets for nearly five hours in front of USF coaches who watched nearly 200 players do their things during testing, drills and competition.
Several prospects made an impression, watching their stock rise with coaches who have followed them over the past year.
By the end of the event, several players left a lasting impression. Here are just a few of the many who competed and battled all day:
2028 - Maikol Armas, DE, 6'3, 240, Fort Myers Bishop Verot – 3.4 GPA. One of the young players on hand, who made a huge impression. Makes the move from North Fort Myers for his sophomore year after impressing several coaches and opposing players as a freshman. As he matures and learns, this is someone who has an opportunity to be very special. At the line camp, you could never tell that he was as young as he is. Someone to keep an eye on.
2027 – Aiden “Big County” Hartnett, OL, 6'3, 280, Plantation American Heritage – 3.8 GPA. One of the fast-emerging offensive linemen in the state. Someone who made an impact during the Patriots' 4A state championship run and into the off-season, impressing many schools.
2026 - Damarcus King Jr., Edge, 6'4, 220, West Boca Raton – 3.4 GPA. Transferred from Benton, Louisiana, returning to the school where it started – giving the defending 6A state champions a huge boost up front. He will definitely make a huge impact.
2026 - DeAnthony Lafayette, DE/OLB, 6'1, 240, Orlando Lake Nona – 3.9 GPA. Talk about showcasing his talents, this is a prospect that will be among the best in the state by the end of the upcoming season for a program that continues to make major strides.

II, DT, 6'1, 320, Seffner Armwood. Makes the move east after performing for Tampa Bay Tech and showing that he will be special as a run stopper. As he continues to learn, his strength and athleticism will start to pay off – with two years left at this level.
2027 - Jaylen Underwood, DT/NG, 6'2, 270, Lake City Columbia – 3.2 GPA. Another player who showed that he will be dominating in the middle or inside as he continues to learn and mature. His quickness is the first thing you notice when watching him perform. Has a chance to be a national prospect over the next two years!
2026 - Enrico Maghelli, OT, 6'5, 310, Bradenton IMG Academy. This is a very unusual talent that reclassified from 2025 after coming from Mexico. He is raw but is extremely promising as an offensive lineman with tremendous feet and strength. As he learns the position and technique, watch out!
2026 - Jaemin Pinckney, Edge, 6'5, 220, Dorchester Woodland, South Carolina – 3.6 GPA. The camp wasn't only reserved for Florida prospects as this promising young man made his way south to compete and showcase his many skills. He is quick and versatile, playing receiver, tight end and outside linebacker as well.
