On this first week in June as camp season starts to sizzle, I wanted to circle back and check progress to target on some guys who have been on my watch list to keep an eye on for this coming fall.

The month of June is a critical month for hitting camps and checking where you are compared to the competition and individual test scoring. The events are big, obviously, and exciting to talk about, but what you do with the experience; applying the feedback/results and focusing on gap analysis and targeting areas of emphasis to improve between now and the start of the season is the real key.

It is also the timeframe for body and mind awareness and looking forward. Along the way it is expected to be driven by chasing PR's, but as you close in on pre-season practice it is more important to proactively plan how and when you intend to peak your training so when the season cranks up you are hitting on all cylinders.

Don't roll into the season looking shredded on the surface and burned-out at the core

In this report we are focusing on a variety of positions and taking a closer look at how each approaches the off-season training grind.

So, without further adieu, let's take a closer look at the Tuesday Five:

[player_tooltip player_id='426515' first='Brayden' last='Pappas'] , 5'8, 185, RB, Eisenhower, '26. This off-season he took a proactive approach to his training and has taken it to another level. On Monday he launched week 1 of his summer training program, after just wrapping up a 12-week spring training program of power lifting, speedwork and a range of supplemental exercises that he kicked off in March to start the grind of getting in peak running back shape. He has been sharing the weekly updates on social media and he looks rock solid with more explosiveness and even more burst than last year. He is a slashing all-purpose back who explodes through the hole and gets to daylight in a hurry. With his off-season training going like it is he is going to blow through arm tackles and consistently pick up yards after the initial hit this fall. He has already been busy in camp season and is getting ready for KSU and Washburn in June and then another five camps in July. Get your popcorn ready, he is getting ready to put on a show.

Noah Sawdy, 5'11, 155, WR, Andover Central, '27, he is coming off an exciting season as a sophomore on the team's 4A State Championship season, he has already been hard at it in the off-season training grind. He has been busy in the weight room and consistently getting in speedwork and agilities on the field. A versatile wide receiver, he can split out wide or move into the slot as needed. He runs disciplined routes and with his speed and shiftiness creates quick separation off the ball. With last year's star-studded class of receivers graduating he is positioned well to move into one of those starting spots. He put together a busy off-season training program and has already gotten bigger and faster, consistently clocking 4.6's in the 40. He has already been busy on the camp circuit after hitting GCCC at Kapaun recently and just returned from the Oklahoma State camp this past weekend. In June it gets even busier, as he plans to hit Pitt State, Kansas, KSU and Emporia State. This guy is getting ready to make some noise this fall..

[player_tooltip player_id='1337345' first='Peyton' last='Gibson'], 6'1, 230, OL/DL, Russell, '28, he is coming off an excellent start to his high school career, starting both ways as a freshman in the varsity trenches. On offense he is versatile enough to play either guard or tackle and on the other side of the ball lines up at the nose or as defensive tackle. With his powerful frame and strong hands, he manhandles the opposition along the line of scrimmage. He is a bulldozer of a blocker in the ground game and walls off in pass pro well. Now that wrestling is over he has been focused in the in the weight room and is also working on footwork and developing weaponized hands, improving hip flexibility, and getting in shape to go at it hard both ways. He is still in the process of finalizing his camp and combine schedule, but will be working with his teammates all summer and is ready for whatever Coach Greenwood needs him to play. This guy is going to be a mauling, brawling force this fall.

Max Truman, 6'4, 275, OL/DL, Bishop Carroll, '27, He is coming off a solid season getting acclimated to the varsity game and getting valuable experience that will help launch him for a big season this fall. With his prototype size and reach he has all the tools to develop into a baller in the trenches. He has a strong frame and excellent lower-body strength that he uses to overpower opponents. He has approached his off-season in a disciplined manner and has been hitting it hard in the weight room while also working on footwork and quickness drills. He has been working on all the intricacies and nuances of offensive line play and is looking forward to taking his game to the next level this fall. He just wrapped up baseball as a pitcher and is getting ready for camp season, expecting to hit Oklahoma Baptist and Purdue in June. He is still finalizing his school visits and hopes to hit Kansas and K-State sometime this summer. This guy is a diamond in the rough and is going to surprise some people this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1645153' first='Easton' last='Melton'] , 6'1”, 165, QB, Maize, '28. Even before I started following this guy I was seeing and hearing a lot of chatter on his potential game. Once I checked him out and watched some of his 7v7 competition for the Wichita Wheat, he was immediately added to the 2028 watchlist. He is dual-threat gunslinger who already has good size and athleticism to go with a howitzer of an arm. In the run-pass option, he uses his quick feet and burst to routinely dismantle the defense. His pocket mechanics are consistent, with a quick seamless shoulder rotation and release. He throws well on the move and can make off platform throws and rifle the ball from different launch angles under duress. He was recently at the Friends camp in Wichita and is in the process of finalizing spring-summer plans shortly. This guy is dedicated to his craft and in becoming an elite quarterback. Expect to see his name in lights in the very near future.

In conclusion, get these guys on your watchlist as they are getting ready to bring it this fall. Give me a shout via DM on X if you run across any guys flying under the radar.

And, as always, keep grindin'…

On this first week in June as camp season starts to sizzle, I wanted to circle back and check progress to target on some guys who have been on my watch list to keep an eye on for this coming fall.
