PRZIA ’28 Rankings Update Position Breakdown: LB

The success started with Sheldon holding up well from a physical standpoint, not a given at LB on the 5A level. That frame will fill out and add strength in the coming years while he develops his game, hinting at plenty more on the way. Sheldon is a good athlete with lateral quickness needed to play the position. It aids him in run support and staying with receivers in pass coverage. The freshman piled up 85.0 tackles (59 solo, 3.0 TFL) in 2024. The Huskies move him around the formation, which speaks to his versatility at linebacker. Asani might fit better at safety in some schemes. Hoover lines him up in the deep middle of the field where a safety would be in many of them. He diagnoses plays quickly and runs well sideline to sideline. Powles' versatility and athleticism allow him to line up in different spots in the formation and deliver. He looks comfortable in doing so, too. The football IQ looks high as we watch the youngster identity opponent play calls for his defense. Powles is physical and fast to the football. That crew went 9-0 with wins against Xavier, Western Dubuque, North Scott and more. Aguilera and other young players in this program should make the always-competitive Go-Hawks formidable this season and beyond. Aguilera looks like a student-athlete capable of contributing on both sides of the ball. As we witness during his ninth-grade highlights on his <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/22649812/pax-aguilera/highlights">Hudl page</a>, Aguilera benefits from his physical style of play whether he's running the ball or lining up to stop opposing offenses. He gets downhill quickly whenever he's on the field. It was a successful group comprised of talent expected to fuel one of the most consistently good programs into the future. He stands out on defense with his ability to run sideline to sideline making him quick enough to cut down opposing ball carriers for little to no gain. Colpitts shows good straight-line speed to close out tackles once he diagnoses the play.
