<p>Three days of state championships this week punctuate the LHSAA's outdoor track and field season. Top athletes from around the state will compete Thursday, Friday and Saturday at LSU's Bernie Moore Stadium. And many of the events include notable football standouts, including some college-bound signees in their final high school events.<br>Here are several individual events to monitor Friday as Class 2A takes center stage in Baton Rouge.</p>

<p><strong>THROWS</strong></p>

<p>The throws are stacked with powerful football linemen and defensive standouts.<br><br>Newman's 2025 OL/DL <strong>Dylan Kolenovsky</strong> leads the discus (43.84m) and is also a top contender in the shot put (14.73m) and javelin (47.06m).<br>Ouachita Christian's 2025 <strong>Jackson Mann</strong>, a <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/12/2024-louisiana-all-prep-classic-teams-small-schools-offense/">Prep Classic standout</a>, is seeded second in discus (42.36m) and leads the shot put field (15.02m).<br>Country Day's 2025 <strong>Isaac Herzenberg</strong>, an All-District offensive lineman is the top seed in javelin (51.94m) and a discus finalist.<br><br>Notre Dame's 2025 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1422336' first='Jackson' last='Casanova'] is another top javelin contender (47.87m). Casanova was an All-District selection with 80 tackles and 8 sacks last season.<br><br>St. Thomas Aquinas' <strong>Tate Soileau</strong>, Catholic NI's <strong>Michael Bertrand</strong>, and Houma Christian's <strong>Logan Bardarson</strong> are all football starters who will be in the mix in the javelin finals.<br></p>

<p><strong>JUMPS (AND MORE)</strong></p>

<p>The Class 2A jumps are loaded with familiar football faces and names, including the entire field of long jump finalists:<br>Mansfield's 2025 WR/S <strong>Kalvin Jackson</strong> (6.65m), an All-District athlete and two-way starter; rising teammate 2027 RB <strong>Jayden Hamilton</strong> (6.61m); Delhi Charter's 2025 RB <strong>Tayven Carter</strong> (6.60m), an All-District selection who rushed for over 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns; Episcopal's <strong>Jeremy Mitchell</strong> (2025) (6.41m), an All-District defensive back; and Slaughter Charter's 2025 WR <strong>Thomas Carter Jr</strong> (6.40m).<br>Pickering's <strong>Anthony Berry</strong> (6.38m), East Feliciana's <strong>Ke'Shaun Toney</strong> (6.37m), Lafayette Renaissance's [player_tooltip player_id='1392973' first='Ashton' last='Joseph'] (6.28m), and Oakdale's [player_tooltip player_id='1601994' first='Anjel' last='Moreaux'] (6.15m), all senior football standouts, round out the field of contenders.<br><br>In the high jump, Oakdale's <strong>Moreaux</strong> (1.98m) leads the way, followed by East Feliciana's <strong>Toney</strong> (1.93m) and Slaughter Charter's <strong>Carter Jr</strong> (1.93m)-all multi-sport football standouts.<br><br>Delhi Charter's <strong>Tayven Carter</strong> is also the top triple jumper (14.19m), with Oakdale's recurring contender <strong>Moreaux</strong> (12.49m) and Episcopal's <strong>Jeremy Mitchell</strong> (12.27m) also among the top seeds<br></p>

<p>Mansfield's 2025 ATH <strong>Jaden Youngblood</strong> headlines the 110-meter hurdles with a dominant 14.25-second seed time and tops the 300 hurdles as well (38.52). Youngblood is a key part of Mansfield's athletic success, both on the field and the track<br></p>

<p><strong>SPRINTS/RUNS</strong></p>

<p>The 100-meter dash features Delhi Charter's 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='291150' first='Keidron' last='Thomas'] (10.65), who teams with fellow football standout <strong>Tayven Carter</strong> on both the football field and track.<br>Winnfield's <strong>Detavious Williams</strong> (10.76), along with La Tech signee in Calvary Baptist's 2025 WR [player_tooltip player_id='291081' first='Kolby' last='Thomas'] (10.81), and Lafayette Christian's Dual threat 2026 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1601816' first='Braylon' last='Walker'] (10.81), and Notre Dame's <strong>Bryce Duhon</strong> (11.01).<br><br><strong>Detavious Williams</strong> also leads the 200-meter field (21.99), with Delhi Charter's <strong>Thomas</strong> (22.05) and Calvary Baptist's <strong>"KT" Thomas</strong> (22.29) in pursuit.<br><br>In the 400 meters, Slaughter Charter's multi-event qualifer <strong>Thomas Carter Jr</strong> (50.97) and Pickering's <strong>Anthony Berry</strong> (51.46) are among the football standouts to watch.<br></p>

<p><strong>RELAYS</strong><br><br>Mansfield's 4x200 meter relay team (1:28.25) features multiple football stars, including Kalvin Jackson and Jayden Hamilton, both football standouts.<br>Winnfield's relay (1:29.23) includes <strong>Detavious Williams</strong> in yet another event.<br><br>Delhi Charter, with<strong> Tayven Carter</strong> and [player_tooltip player_id='291150' first='Keidron' last='Thomas'], is the top seed in the 4x100 relay (43.17).<br></p>
