Texas Trench Maulers: Off-Season Watchlist

<p>Spring and summer are crucial periods for recruitment and development, involving team workouts, spring football practices, 7-on-7 events, showcases, visits, and more. Often, especially in the state of Texas, multiple prospects under the radar go unnoticed due to the quantity of players in the state. </p>   <p>At Prep Redzone, our focus is on uncovering those athletes who deserve recognition. These prospects have the ability to compete at the next level, be it D1, D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO, showcasing their considerable talents. Here are five prospects to watch:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">[player_tooltip player_id='284184' first='Tristan' last='Jefferson'] is a breakout candidate for the upcoming 2025 season. He currently doesn't hold any offers, but he has the motor and play strength to compete at the next level.</p>   <p>Jefferson displays good initial quickness into his base, reach, and DBLs. Off the snap, he showcases solid hand placement and pad level to create inside leverage, control, drive, and create running lanes in designed gaps. In pass pro, he has a strong anchor due to solid lower body strength and UOH. He currently holds an offer from Tarleton State and just came off a visit to UTEP.</p>   <p>Dearth explodes off the snap with good upfield burst and pad level, against both the pass and run. He is effective against the run, using initial punch to stun offensive linemen and create leverage with his hand placement. This allows him to read, shed blocks, and make plays at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. He also utilizes these skills to bull-rush the pocket and apply pressure on the quarterback, which can lead to errant throws or sacks. He currently holds offers from Eastern New Mexico, Southwest Baptist, and Texas College.</p>   <p>At the next level, it's unlikely that he will play primarily in the interior . However, his quickness and length are significant factors at this stage. He is projected to play between the 4-tech and 7-tech positions, depending on the scheme and specific assignments for each game. Greene utilzes solid hand placmenet with patience to read and shed to make a play at the LOS or in the backfield. He possesses a strong initial punch that disrupts the rhythm of pass rushers, enabling him to create leverage in both running and passing situations. His strong anchor is supported by solid lower body strength, balance, and UOH to control. He plays through the whistle with a mean demeanor. He displays solid initial quickness off the snap, along with solid upper body strength, power, and placement to control and drive with active feet.
